I'm decently good at digging around the random shady torrent aggregators and finding books and movies, and tv is taken care of by eztv.it, but lately I've been striking out when trying to find reliable torrent sites for newer content. Used to use demonoid as my goto but the gub'ment spoiled the fun.

Recommendations?

Actually, there's a lot to it. But there is an unwritten rule not to discuss it. I will PM you when I am not so into my whiskey. One of those old school things I can't let go of, but still "works for me".

Bitmetv.org for televsion
bit-hdtv.com for movies
also goem.org for movies.
what.cd, waffles.fm for music. Waffles is also good for software.
Bitgamer.su for games

If ur on that baller time - Newsgroups. Get access to Usenet via Newshosting.com, and use their built in client to start downloading. Dead simple.

If ur on that peasant time - IPTorrents.com. Gotta admit though, this site gives me the same speeds as Newsgroups, which caps out my bandwidth. This past weekend for UFC 153, this site actually had the file up before newsgroups.

lol i swear i didnt read your post before i posted mine

IPTorrents or torrentleech are great "general" trackers.
TheVault.bz has some decent IM-related material.
What.cd/Waffles are the best for music.
BrokenStones is a must for Mac users.

All of the aforementioned sites are invite only

I've always been fine with torrenz.eu, but I guess my torrenting needs aren't that hardcore.

kat.ph is the shiznits for public trackers. TV's up less than a half hour after it airs for most stuff. Movies are on par with other sites, but the comments are used more often on kat.ph, which helps identify whether questionable torrents are worth your time.

I love the layout and various filters you can use. The only pita is the adserving and popups, which is hard to avoid on any torrent site with any real value. Seed are always good too; takes me 5 mins for a 1gb download with my 30mbps speed.
