Stephen King's IT

Not a big fan of clowns, hate clowns even more after watching that film.

One I highly recommend is THE OTHERS .. I think it's awesome and underrated... better than sixth sense imho

Is anyone else a sucker for the 90's Stephen King TV miniseries, like "The Stand" (great book, also), or "Storm of the Century".

thought those were great, may be corny now.

The Signal
Splinter
Let the Right One In

and a ton of other ones.....BUT

THE SCARIEST MOVIE I YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IS.....

Alien Abduction: The Lake County Incident

Hostel i think the whole idea behind it is very disturbing and the act that it somewhat plausible makes it far worse.

Event horizon Awesome
1408 was truly creepy (not really horror though),
ravenous was disturbing as well
arachnaphobia i wasnt scared of spiders before this movie
wicker man very good kinda slow
in the mouth of madness very long but very good
jesus camp-documentary very scary but real

Worst attempts at Horror
strangers
quarentine
dark water
and the infamous blair witch

the stand and storm of the century are among my favs but i wouldnt consider them horror

The movie The Stand was terrible. The book was his best ever written.

I did, however, enjoy the movie IT. It has a bunch of good stuff about it. horror along with a friends/comradely theme.

, ravenous was disturbing as well

Ravenous!! Holy shit! That one for some reason died in the movie theaters and I thought it was really pretty cool and totally disturbing. I had tried to describe it to my husband years later and I couldn't remember the name. Sooo going to put that in the BB Queue.

King's books generally translate horribly into movies. Kubrick more or less through the book out when he made the shining, which is why it was awesome.

I quite like The Stand actually... maybe because I didnt read the novel(zzZZ)

I've heard [REC] is scary but I tend not to listen to people when they say certain films are scary, a couple of months ago me and my friends watched 'Excorcism of Emily Rose', some of them were saying it was the scariest film of all time (I heard the same when it was released) and that was some hilariously weak shit.

Yeah REC is really good actually. I didn't even know until this thread that someone tried to make a US remake of it. Emily Rose is alright, but not really scary IMO.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is crap compared to [Rec]. But make sure you watch [Rec] in the right mood and setting: High volume, phones off, at night and no lights.
Agreed. And that is how I watch all my movies. :) My basement home theater lets in no light so it's nice, pitch black, and cozy for horror movies.

The Strangers.
This was absolutely the worst movie in history. Complete garbage.
Uhh...I take it you're joking, right? I'd give it a 10 out of 10. Best suspense/horror movie I've seen in years.

28 Days Later.
Cloverfield
Cabin Fever
I'm going to also say +1 for The Decent (Creepy as hell, original plot, and kick ass women, couldn't ask for a better horror movie)

Damn - how could I forget "The Decent" ? Hell yeah that was a kick ass movie. Now I wanna see it again. :)

Cloverfield also rocked! One of the best action/sci-fi/suspense/horror movies to come out in recent years. I thought Cabin Fever was a snorefest though but to each their own.

House of Wax
Paris Hiltons acting is truly scary
Lmao.

I still think The Exorcist(1973) is by far the scariest movie of all time.
I think it's the most overrated horror of all time. Not saying it's bad. Just not that amazingly scary.

The excorcist is weak, I find it amazing that anyone finds that scary.
+1

The Strangers.
I agree. The trailer made it seem very scary but it just sucked.
Wtf? :) Are we talking about the same movie? I thought it pwned, and so did many people I know.

Fuck...another awesome movie I forgot on my list. I must be getting dementia. Yes - "The Others" is definitely ranked high up there.

Now I'm starting to wonder what else I might be forgetting, haha.

The Hills Have Eyes was pretty disturbing...

One of my favorites, didn't like the second one near as much though..

I quite enjoyed the following..

Se7en - not quite a 'horror' movie, but as good as one

Exorcist (original), pretty fricking good. don't forget the date is was created... nothing came close to touching this back then and it's still great now..

Children of the corn

Candyman

IT

Pet Cemetary

The Birds ( classic - alfred hitchcock)

Hostel, while not perfect is a must watch 'recent' horror film

Silence of The Lambs, one of the best ever, need I say more... where's my fava beans
