Quick Amex Question!

did you guarantee it with your personal credit file or going with only a tax id for the business?

I understand that, my question is did those that got this amex card within 2 days or 2 weeks of being in business NEED to guarantee it with personal credit or did they do it solely with the tax id/new business credit?

Anyone know if you can sign up without putting your own SSN in? I did a shortsale on a property that depreciated alot so I mailed in the keys (hey it was 200k difference, what else should I do?) but obviously that hurts the personal credit report quite a bit. Kind of doubt I would get approved with that on the report and don't want to have my credit pulled as that would only hurt the score even more.

Why the heck can guys in the US get amex and in the UK we have to be in business for 1 year.

I am going to see if I can start of with the platinum.

It's American Express. If you want a business card straight away, contact European Express. :repuke:

I spent over half a million on my Platinum this year and have other Amex cards as well (and never missed a payment), but because I took out a mortgage my credit score had "too many inquiries" on it and Amex declined me for that reason.

I started a new LLC (US) back in June and got a Gold Amex the next week. The next month though they dropped my personal card to a $500 limit.. Who gives out a business card that is still linked to my SSN and then attacks your personal card. Bitches..

Also this LLC had its own Tax ID but since it was a new business it had nto built its own credit history so it was linked to my personal SSN. Probably why they were willing to give it out.

As far as just using your EIN to get a Business card that's not going to happen as it takes years to build "business credit". All new credit you're going to have to use the EIN to build the corps credit then also use your SSN. I don't know what the issue is with them dropping your limit on that personal one to 500$. I have 1 personal at 40k, 1 for one corp for 35k and 1 for my other corp for 50k. Both corps started in 08. So I think a lot has to do with your income and credit score. I've heard of them asking people to send their tax returns and stuff. But this hasn't happened to me yet. Wouldn't be a big deal just a pita.

when you get to the part that asks "Years in operation?" ... you say .... ?

Since basic biz info is a matter of public record and presumably one of the first things Amex check, lying on the application doesn't seem too smart.

For the record, Amex UK clearly apply a different set of rules to the US, to answer the original question. But I'd be interested to hear how you get on AffiliateLife.

I call and don't fill out apps I don't remember them asking me that. Usually call while driving as that's when I find a free min to do stuff like that.

I think I told you about this.
