I use NameCheap which gives you free WhoisGuard when you register a domain - I use it.

hehehe, np. I looked on WhoisGuard's Website and it seems to be a service offered with hosting... not something I can purcahse. Hmm, I wonder if GoDaddy offers this - nope, they do not :( They are charging $4.99/yr per domain for private registration!
Just signup with Namcheap and use a coupon.. $7.99 for domain / whoisguard :) I like them better than GoDaddy too..

I've been using whoisguard on namecheap - very cool. The charges for privacy can really add up when you have a slew of domains...I'm wondering if plugging in fake information is the way to go. Is that crazy? I'm not sure anyone I would WANT to talk to would look me up via whois (and I'm really cheap).

I've been using ipower.com lately. $2.95 for the first year of registration, with free private whois. Their control panel sucks, but for $3 a domain... I'll deal with it.

Private is better. There are people selling stuff like "GET TOP RANKINGS IN ALL SEARCH ENGINES, INSTANT SUBMISSION TO ALL SEARCH ENGINES".. etc

and having your address they mail it right to you :!

Indeed it is, but there are so many millions of domains there is little to no chance that they would get you for it.

Thats not allowed according to ICANN rules. (i think:p)
that's more of a speedbump than a brick wall
who's bright idea was it anyway, to put people's real addresses and phone numbers into the public record available to millions of people worldwide?
