I'm just wondering why in a country that has 90 firearms per 100 people, nobody managed to stop him. The logic just never seems to work.
The stabbing victims were his roommates, and it was possibly while they were sleeping. Bit different to opening fire on a deli from your car no?

That's an easy answer. In California, it's almost impossible to get a concealed permit. You have to be an anti-gun politician or transport diamonds, for example. Also, you can't drive with a gun in your car unless it's from point A to point B. If you regularly carry one in your car, it's illegal.
Assuming the deli mart owner was working at the time, he could have had a gun. However, none of his patrons or any passersby could have had one unless they were policemen or were one of the very tiny group of individuals with concealed permits. The logic works.

If the US would just sack up and legalize prostitution, stuff like this wouldn't have to happen. You throw a bunch of unintelligent people into a box, tell them that sex is the most important thing in life, and then restrict them from obtaining sex ... I'd be surprised if this is the last angry nerd to lash out.

Well prostitution is this thing which (much like marijuana) it's prohibited but not that hard to get ahold of. So I'm not really sure if legalized prostitution would have helped this guy out, he was already a rich kid and could get as many 'escorts' as he wanted.
But I do agree that the ban on prostitution is laughably stupid and totally indefensible.

Yeah, I'm starting to believe that he did belong in a hospital. I don't think he even wanted to learn how to make friends or talk to girls. His parents went out and got him that help, hiring a guy a couple of years older than him to help him socialize. And on top of that, back at school, they hired a girl to do the same thing...and he didn't like talking to her so he stopped seeing her.
