Problems Starting Prosper

Hey Guys,

I'm about as new as you can get to running my own affiliate campaigns (I have experience generating traffic for other people), and I can't seem to get prosper to run on my tracking URL.

I even have a buddy who knows what he's doing and can't get it to compile.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I definitely doing something wrong?

Also, say I didn't get Prosper, what's a solid but inexpensive tracking option?

Thanks for any help.

We need more information.

Have you tried re-doing everything? Clean slate?
&& Is this your first time running prosper or have you done
this various times but just now getting the issue?

Prosper is fine to use, and it's free. You don't need any crazy
advanced tracking depths when just starting off.

Yeah, I pulled everything off of the directory on the server and then reinstalled. Though when I tried to pull it the tracking202 directory appeared to remain there.

This is my first time running it. My buddy looked in and said he saw errors in their code.

I'm ready to get up and running except for this, so it's driving me bonkers.

Are you installing it on its own stand-a-lone domain and installing in the root directory of the domain?

You can't install it in a sub-directory or anything.

So it will turn out to be like site.com/[upload prosper here]

Yup. All the files are in the root directory for the site.

It's giving me a syntax error in 202-config/functions.php

Well, what you can try to do. (Make sure you make a backup first obviously)

Is delete everything below line 231.

In my function.php this is the last line of shit. with the last "}" being on line 231.

function getLocationDatabasedOn() {

return false;

}

function iphone() {
if ($_GET['iphone']) { return true; }
if(preg_match("/iphone/i",$_SERVER["HTTP_USER_AGENT"])) { return true; } else { return false; }
}

Try unzipping on your computer and uploading everything that is inside the prosper202 folder instead.

I would do what netphase just said.

I remember my first time installing prosper I had this same issue.
Tried uploading the whole zip onto the folder and unzipping it inside
because I didn't know any other way.

What had happen was it was extracting the files into a completely
different folder and couldn't find anything.

I tried that just this morning and got the same error. It appears to be something in their code. Anyone know another cheap/free option? I also posted on their help forums so I'm hoping I hear something there too.

Their code works fine for me. I just downloaded it from their website a few minutes ago, unzipped it, and uploaded it to a domain that I am not using.
