To help automate the process a little bit, just have the PPC engine set duplicate bids for all your keywords and then change the ones you need to. It's less work than changing thousands of keywords by hand. Most keywords don't require micro-management.

I'm not positive and perhaps engaged can give you more information, but I think AdWords lets you upload spreadsheets with all the data (keywords, bids, etc).

I only meant if a person was first starting out. I guess my thought is as long asyou can generate a profit, then you're doing good.

Of course a person should be able to generate a lot more 1/20 or 1/10 once they get the hang of it. I just started and I'm doing about 1/2 now.

Looks like you have a big opportunity just by increasing your CTR. Have you tried tweaking your page at all, and if so, have you seen an increase or decrease in CTR?

If you're not sure what should be tweaked, post a wireframe or screenie with everything blurred, and you'll get suggestions on how to mod your page to help CTR.

I don't think my template needed any tweaking until I increased my keywords list. After that I ended up changing a few things for a day or so and well either the keywords list was crap or it was a combination of both. So I'm reverting to my previous list.

Oh and the page is the basic layout that's been passed around here a few times. I had the intention to basically make it targeted but unreadable so they would be compelled to find a different source of information. I also followed (forgot who posted it) the write the ad copy to promise what the ads deliver and not what your content delivers.

Once I get done changing every thing back I'll post some numbers.

$4849 profit from 1 month of running ppc ads

Our numbers have been like this (for Affiliate sites)

For One Month
--------------
Spent - $3276
Revenue - $8125
Earned from Google PPC: $4849

That's from just one of my sites. Something that essentially runs on it's own.

I share my ads and tips openly on my blog
blog.mindvalleylabs.com

I made a huge loss trying this for the first 3 months though. but since then it's been profitable. I'm been doing it since Jan 2003 now.

vishen - this thread is about arbitrage, not aff however I love your blog, why not go to my aff thread and post some of your tips there, we are trying to provide a great resource for everyone.

Arbitrage test one:

Okay, I took the plunge. Didn't drown, but I did lose money. Here's the stats:

Money spent $19.63
Money earned $11.36
Difference ($8.27)

Page impressions: 196
Clicks: 123
CTR: 45%
Per Click Payout: $0.079
Per Click Paid (ave): $0.16

So, a couple things I learned:
1. My chosen keyword / niche sucks for PPC arbitrage
2. The site works well for click throughs
3. Dump this campaign and find a new niche, test, and repeat as needed

So far, I've spent $225 and made $368.87 for a 1.63:1 return. Made some mistakes early on with keyword pricing, and then revisited those mistakes again last week :D

Now it's just testing and tuning ad copy, and figuring out some reporting and automation. I need to automate to churn out stuff quicker, and need to figure out some reporting to be able to drop money-costing pages quickly.

The funny thing is, my best pages are the first 5 I put up.

Heres a simple little tool for figuring out how much you need to make based on your cost per click, expected earnings per Adsense click and CTR. Nothing that couldn't be done in about 30 seconds with a calculator, but I was bored, and thought maybe somebody that was mathematically challenged could use it.

Oh BTW, it's an XLS file.
:D

Overall stats for me so far in 2006:

Spent = $35,855
Revenue = $99,387
Profit = $63,532

I will add that most of this occurred between January-September, b/c of the AW quality bot and advertisers dropping out, the exchange isn't profitting anymore.

Looking for a new niche.

Some of you guys need to start spending a hell of a lot more than you are putting up right now. The only reason I first mentioned using small budgets is so that you would see the proof for yourself and that I wasn't just making up numbers or tactics. So there, the proof has been shown by a bunch of people, some of them need to work on their traffic sources, CTR's, and finding better niches.

Yup, it is mighty comfy with just 7search...takes a little more effort/ingenuity to make the same consistent returns with other places. or maybe it doesn't, and everyone just over-analyzes shit.

drusam,

have you found an alternative source of traffic that you have been able to profit yet?o.0 =)

started off doing arbi and lost money, it was a learning process....

but now i'm on track and my testing phase is done.. i think i'm doing something right...... just freshly launched a 3 sites today, and ready to start mass producing like a mad-man, now that i have a system that works for me...

spent .77 cents on traffic
adsense: $3.93
profit: $3.16
ctr: 61.11%

because my domain and pages are brand new, when does that google score bot come into play?... i'm dreading that day my clicks bprices become lower...[
