Portugal v. Ivory Coast

You don't know much about football do you..

Do you know half of the Ivory coast team?
Portugal's world class player: CR9 + Carvalho
Ivory Coast's world class players: Drogba, Kolo Toure & Yaya Toure

Just because Portugal went to semi-final 4 years ago does not mean they are gonna be the same this time around. Only reason they went to semi final was Jose Mourinho's Porto team. The exact same team that won the champion league and got to the Euro 2004 final. The 2006 team was that + CR9. Now the team is a lot older and Deco is not the same anymore. Portugal might have had the upper hand if Nani was playing but he was not. Btw Portugal 3 - 0 what? What kind of football you watch btw?

Which game were you watching =/

Brazil game was great. Maybe not the first half so much, but second half had some amazing moments. We're gonna see better from Brazil but this was a v. good opening game for them.

Robinho played well, and that Bastos guy did too. Never heard of him before this.

Amazing moments are just that, amazing moments, and that's not a good game. There was not enough good passes and quality action on the field. For me, that was happening on the Germany - Australia game. Goals were not necessary that much, but they still happened as a result of a good game. They had fucking fun and you could tell, so the results were there naturally. That's what football is about!

I guess it's just a start, so everyone's way too cautions. We'll see what happens next round.

I've seen some stats today on TV. They said that this year after 3 and 4 days into world cup, the number of goals scored is the lowest ever, comparing to any prior world cup for the same period of time!

initial games are seldom exciting. the teams are just too cautious, reserved and risking little.
nevertheless, there have been some good moves so far.
I believe Messi will reach his pinacle in this world cup

Its gonna be SPAIN all the way. Every player in the squad is top 3 in the world in their position. It's gonna be Xabi kissing the shit out of that trophy. Messi... I dont think his boys are good enough, and I'm doubting that even the #1 player in the world wont be able to drag his team to the top.

the chile game so far isnt even bad. both teams rather attacking than defending.

2nd half of the Brazil game yesterday was amazing. Specially north korea surprised a lot of people (me not really, i've seen them play and they really are a great team).

looking forward to spain / switzerland today ;)

I've been disappointed with the WC so far, but as mentioned above this is the first round of games so far and so is typical and to be expected.

I have however been surprised and impressed by a couple of teams. Notably the US who, whilst as an Englishman I never underestimated them, did very well against us in spite of going behind early on.

That kind of spirit goes a long way (I'm a Blackpool fan, for those who know what we achieved this season) and it was also evident in North Korea yesterday who I thought were tremendous. Sure Brazil weren't even close to their peak but nonetheless the commitment and organisation the Korean's showed was commendable.

I've missed a few important games, including Argentina, Germany and the Netherlands, but I'm certainly not surprised by the Germans' first result. Constantly written off, they are ALWAYS a force. I have a feeling Argentina will struggle in the later stages, due to Maradona, and even the genius of Messi won't be quite enough when they come up against the more tactically astute teams.
