Plenty of fish annoyed me when they made up that age limitations rule(older guys can't message young women who are more than 14 years younger).

I.e that means if a guy is 45 the youngest he can message is a 31 year old.

I'm a young dude but that's just sounds stupid. And hey, if I see a good looking MILF who's 40 I can't message her either?

All our decisions are based on data.. there's no "white knighting" of any sort. We decided on that limit because the messages between 2 people who were more than 14 years apart were sex messages.

In other words, dudes scaring the women away. So, Island, your example is exactly what we're discouraging.

Come on... you know that POF isn't just used for relationships. We're not in the 1800s. Whether your user base admits it or not a lot of them are down for casual sex with somebody hot and that's probably a big part of the draw to Plenty of Fish.

And dudes scaring women away, I can think of a dozen other ways to deal with that. If a guy is in the bottom 30 percent of attractiveness just put age limits on him or message limits. I'm sure there's a way to deal with losers with bad game that other than a blanket ban on older guys messaging younger women or vice versa. And how do you know older men won't want relationships with younger women?

I don't like the implication that its wrong for an older guy to date younger women.
