Photoshop isn't hard to learn at all. Stay away from the filters and stupid "make this cool sig, start with render > clouds" tutorials.

Good luck!

Photoshop CS3 ..definitely!

I just got CS3 last week and...need to upgrade my PC. I had a stick a ram go bad that dropped me down to 768mb and I've been to lazy to pick up more. Going to have to get a move on that.

I'd suggest at least 1gb, because otherwise even a couple of smaller files already cause photoshop to swap the ram to the HDD (usually windows alone takes 500mb an beyond) ..Only problem i had with PS CS3 was getting used to the few interface changes, but it's nice overall

I know, I can't run anything, no photoshop CS3, Flash CS3, Illustrator CS3...it just won't let me load shit but the CS3 Desktop will load. I need to pick up a new gig stick and hopefully soon I decide on what I want to go with for a new desktop.

corel draw & paint shop pro.

i do a lot of graphics, also making flyers and posters for clubs and parties here in my sparetime and worked for a print agency...

i dont like RAM eating monsters like photoshop. but illustrator is good...

btw. a arts professor i know said one time that it doesnt matter what application you use, if you're good and you know what you want. ;)

I gave Fireworks an honest run and could not stand it! Ive been using PS for a few years now and i prefer to stick with it.. .

Photoshop plus Illustrator is all you need. If you don't have Illustrator, you are really limited with what you can do.

True, I'm using illustrator about 60% of my workday. Plus, if you want pro kerning you are going to have to do it yourself in illustrator. Larger text in photoshop and fireworks is not pretty.
