I have an old version of photoshop that for whatever reason, doesn't work on my new pc:

"could not initialize photoshop because the scratch disks are full"

I have some psd files that I need to edit, so I'm looking for a free alternative that can open them and I can make edits to (just simple stuff).

thanks!

Your can get Photoshop for a reasonable price now. They offer a subscription service.

I use the Creative Cloud service now and love it. Be a student and get it for 29/m. You get all the Adobe products and updates without any of the headaches of using a torrent.

Someone already mentioned GIMP so I'll suggest another one. Pixlr.com -- it's web-based, and you don't need to sign up at all. I've used it a few times when I was on a computer that didn't have Photoshop, and it can do the job.

InkScape (free) for vector graphics. It's the free alternative to Adobe Illustrator.

If you're designing scalable logos for print and media it's probably the way to go.

You'll spend more time looking for a quality alternative rather than just sticking to what works. Don't be a jew with software bros.
