Acai berry helps with radiation poisoning... says Mr Timothy McBrien of Colorado Seniors Research University.

Who the fuck is to say that the buyer isn't going to take this and make it a helpful resource?

If so, then the designer/seller did the world a big favor. I'm all for him getting his cash. -That's positive capitalism.

Whats wrong with churches or charities exploiting people for $ ?

I dont see anything wrong with it. I actually have been working with a few charity organizations and I get paid nicely from them.

eh, people make money off of the next big news story all day long.. guess it all depends on your own internal moral standard

Exactly. Ignore all the other numbers on the page and look at the one that says "Fundraising Efficiency". In the case of the Red Cross, it's $0.17.

17 cents of every dollar they collect goes to the causes they support.

And to answer the question, I don't have any problem with people making money off natural disasters, but it all depends on what you're making the money off of. Selling survival guides, earthquake preparedness kits and iodine tablets is one thing. Selling bottled water in the disaster zone at 100 times the normal retail price is something entirely different.

Do you guys actually read the charity navigator site or not?

Fundraising Efficiency: The amount spent to raise $1 in charitable contributions. To calculate a charity's fundraising efficiency, we divide its fundraising expenses by the total contributions it receives.

That means for every $1 they raise, they spend $0.17 raising it.

I don't care if people make a buck off this disaster, you better believe I am using these natural disasters to place spam comments and getting them approved with an amazing high % rate.
