Just tell them you were just wanted some Internet monies and Canada will start boycotting if they decide to push this any further.

Yeah, after taking a deep breath, I wrote this. Tell me what you think:

Dear Mr. AG,

re: File #####

Our website does not sell products to, take transactions, or make
money from anyone who visits our website. Our website is for
information purposes ONLY. The vendor to whom the complainant
allegedly gave her credit information to can be found at:

https://www.acaibullshit.crap

and any charges incurred by the complainant come solely and completely
from the operators of that website. As I say, our website only
provides information and advertising for the aforementioned website
operators. It may be unfortunate for the complainant, but
girlsWeightLoss.com is in no way responsible for the debt or charges
on her account. At this time we are suspending any advertising on our
website that relates to the abovementioned website, and until I have
received clarification from our affiliate manager regarding this
promotion/vendor we will no longer send traffic of any form to that
website. We advertised their products in good faith that they would
provide the product to their customers in a manner appropriate and
consistent with their product offering.

Regards,

Fearsome McOrange

This has nothing to do with you - this is all about the merchant. Just pass the buck along up the chain and tell them to leave you out of it.

I wouldn't use a first name+last name on the reply. But then again IANAL

Why the fuck didn't you pay the $8 or so that it costs to make the domain whois private?!

Meanwhile, it sounds like someone fishing for some info from you so like Krongel said they can report your ass.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, hell send them a makemoniesonline link if you want because the whole thing makes no realistic sense for you to take any action or follow up with them at all.

As much as I dislike the WA AG (its true, they really are fucking nuts) I can't possibly believe for a moment that they are mistaking your site for the customer support or the corporate site/contact for these products. They just aren't THAT naive. It sounds more like the customer herself is behind it.

Yeah they could easily get a subpoena for the records though. There are of course other ways, but wow this is nothing to worry about. Your sending a letter to a subordinate at the AG's office. Just tell them the truth they are just going after you because you had easily identifiable whois info so they are just going through the chain. Once they realize your not the one doing the billing they will move on to the merchant.

they could but they havent yet. I highly doubt they are gonna subpeona anyone over 1 complaint about the site.

I think the big orange has enough bad luck that he should be banned from WF. No need in spreading that shit around.

If I were you, I'd remove that first sentence, Our website does not sell products to, take transactions, or make
money from anyone who visits our website. That's kind of bullshit, I'd just drop it. I think that sentence could possibly open up a can of worms, you do make money from people who visit your site and continue through to buy the product, there's no need to give them that type of information. The WA AG just wants you to response telling them you are not responsible for the charges, end of story. They've probably already contacted the acai company who you've linked through on your website.

They most likely issued subpeona in this case to get your info.

It looks like the hammer is coming down on the Acai Berry companies. This is really the time to wrap things up, tie up the loose ends, and make sure issue all the refunds as required.

Maybe its already too late...

I can see a big ass lawsuit is coming up very soon.

a good buddy of mine who introduced me to affiliate marketing a decade ago had to cancel his credit card account to stop the monthly billing as the customer service phone #s were disconnected and they never replied to his emails to contact to stop the deliveries. crap like that def gives the industry a bad name.

Just respond back with "Sorry we are just an affiliate website and don't know anything about a purchase. You'll have to contact whatever company you made your purchase through."

90% of the time they'll respond back with a "okay thanks" 10% will respond back with, "do you happen to have a number i can call" which you respond back with "no sorry i don't we often switch offers to try to find ppl the best deals of who to purchase through"

I have acai sites that have never made a single conversion EVER and they get complaint emails all the fuckin time from people who "purchased through them" It's all bullshit. Take it with a grain of salt.

FearsomeOrange. as an act of charity, would you mind stating which acai offer it was that you were promoting?

(Or would that be considered bad etiquette in this forum...?)

Well, I would but the fact of the matter is, after re-reading her complaint it is clear that whoever is charging her is NOT the company I was marketing. She lists five companies in her complaint: Acai Burn, Bromalite, KoreanKreations, MissionFish, and Fit Factory. None of these companies I've dealt with in any way.

Hopefully this is the end of it.
