"Service offers managed wordpress hosting, targeting church and ministry sites. The domain is there, but it's not open for business yet. Still working on the copy, etc. But I suppose you could push a few links to it.

The new domain is: J***ChurchS***.com"

just started a new site a few weeks ago. aside from on-site SEO and good content;

trying to figure out a plan for where the Fuuuck do i start with linkbuilding?!?!

doubt i should start with DFBs or xrumer blasts or anything like that (dont wanna end up sandboxed ) and Im hesitant to just run out and buy senukex or any of those automated tools unless I can sit down and do something by hand; then automate & Scale once I've realized that what I can do myself actually benefits.

seoquake for my term

Judging from the bolded blurs I'm seeing a two word keyword phrase where the entire top 10 is dominated by old sites (2004 and older). No its not going to be as easy as you think but your instincts are right to not start with any sort of blasting software like xrumor or senukex. I'd start with the basics such as directory submissions, in context links, blog commenting, and sitewides on bigger sites, and farm out from your foundation sites (if you have them) How old is your domain? Starting solid and steady is definitely your best bet here but keep in mind any single syndicated guest post on some big blog or something could propel you right up there at any time. So keep that option open and your eyes pealed for the opportunity.

zomfg dude! Too easy. Forget SEO, it'll come on its own. Promote by linking and commenting on church and worship related youtube videos.
such as
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npgdw5Zb7TY"]YouTube - Rebecca Black - Friday (OFFICIAL PARODY VIDEO) - Sunday - Sadie B[/ame]
lmao.
It's true though. It'll get you a ton of related links making you rank with no effort, there's plenty of targets AND it'll get you lots of exposure to your demographic.

Christian forums go without saying but for starting off: Youtube marketing youtube marketing youtube marketing :)

OK - never really thought of using comments on Youtube for link-building.

Linking -- you mean embedding? Or linking to videos I've commented on?
both is the best answer to that question because it is a bit tricky as youtube is always changing.
You have to link build to your youtube channel and from there link to your site. Make a comment with the url to your site broken up (as updated as i am I think youtube still doesn't allow urls in comments) then favorite, comment and friend the videos as much as possible.
You gotta keep in mind that all these churches that buy your hosting packages will be linking to you in their footers and such, the more clients you get the more church site links you get. Win win. Go for the clients first.

G'night guys :)

Just wanted to say that these threads are the reason I'm on WickedFire at 5AM on a Saturday night.

Eli's gone above all my expectations for fucking sure.

As updated as I am on Youtube, had to google how to create a youtube channel. As I suspected, I'll need at least one video to do it. OK - a million ways to get that done, so no problem there.

And then I'll draft my kids to comment on videos for me, ( Bwahahaha. Now I'll get my payback for all those 'key of awesome' parody videos they insisted I watch. )

Just use the anchors I want for my site, link to the videos with my comments, and also to my channel. No need to be cautious about building links to youtube, right?

Sounds like a plan.

I must admit I was momentarily deflated when you said it was so easy. All my careful planning, for naught. But if it's not necessary, then there's no need to be clever. And saving money is always good.

Thanks!

Damn..looks like i am too late, but I might as well ask if I can send you a pm to look over a site in a luxury niche i have been working on. Thanks

I need landing page that will do good with food coupon offer on PPC. My campaign was shut cos of direct linking for 4 months.
Should i just copy merchant landing page and put "click here" button instead of their email submit button?

since darrin is taking this seriously i'll post his convo without his permission lol :)

[12:26:36 AM] Darrin (dchuk): any other tricks up your sleeve for kicking a site back in gear after getting dropped eli?
[12:33:22 AM] Eli Aloisi: Yeah change the title tag to a completely different keyword and only that keyword
[12:33:26 AM] Eli Aloisi: point a bunch of bitly links to it
[12:33:40 AM] Eli Aloisi: then wait till the change updates in google (should only take a few hours to a day)
[12:33:42 AM] Eli Aloisi: then change it back

This works because while bitly redirects don't have a very big effect on the rankings and quickly dissipate in their importance, but they bring a ton of spiders from all the dcs and will force a reevaluation of your site's relevance in a fairly short time. New popular blog posts and news articles tend to get a lot of bitly links quickly.

Is this purely to get the site reindexed? I have a site that appears for its main keyword on page 2 every week or two and then disappears. When it disappears, the inner page ranks for the keyword in 100-300 range.

I changed my title tags, then submitted website to Status micro blogging sites. It got crawled and cached again, but it did not come back. What would you advise to do next?

I think the problem with this is that I was DFBing it for good 2-3 months before building any quality links back 6 months ago...

it's a site of main that got heavily sandboxed last week. You know the site actually, you've blasted it (not blaming your work, there's a variety of things that happened).

I'm going to try out eli's method this week to see what happens. I'll probably use a mixture of bit.ly and some twitter accounts to get spiders coming back.

anyways, good thread, thanks for posting your brain eli.

Just spammed Eli in a msg. I fucked up my biggest site because I relaunched it with more content and had good intentions to provide way better quality information to visitors. Apparently Google didn't like that and wanted it to remain a thin site instead. Gay. Been trying to recover my top rankings since aug 2010 but fucked.

Here's a good question I'm sure a lot of us want to hear you weigh in on:

What are your thoughts on not using enough anchor text variations in your backlinks? Any rule of thumb you work by when determining the anchor text to use when building your links?

I have another newbie question that's been bugging me for years but I've never done anything about it. I usually install wordpress using Fantastico, this results in the domain not having the www. - is there a way to add the www?

I'd love to know.

PM bchuk about this thread, I'm sure she'll want to help :)

damn that is a noob question - you got balls asking it so I'll answer to the best of my ability: Just got into wp-admin and in settings, set the url of the site to use www. Also, just to be safe, you can add this to your .htaccess so it automatically redirects and google knows for sure which version to index:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yoursite\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yoursite.com/$1 [R=301,L]
