Someone here often quotes Thomas Edison and his 1000 failures before finally succeeding with the light bulb. He didn't necessarily perceive these failed attempts as failures. Instead he saw it as and said that he'd found 1000 ways not to create a light bulb.
This is the perfect affiliate marketing analogy. Edison tried 1000 times to invent the light bulb, failed, and then exploited Tesla's work for his own benefit.
