It's defiantly not a southern thing. OP was trying to witty by making generalities about a geographic area and failed. The reason you haven't seen it is because 1) you didn't goto a wal-mart in a poor area or 2) you didn't look.

I have lived in the south..i know how it is..i am so glad to be back in the Northwest

I wonder where that is.

I live in the 'burbs outside of Houston - and I admit to taking trips to Wal-mart at midnight because it is the only place open that stocks ink for my printer (if you guys had kids in high school, you'd understand), or printers for that matter.

Anyway, I have never seen anything like that.
