So I'm pursuing a niche site that came to mind. I used Google's KW Tool to check the KWs. I Got some pretty good results I also checked out the SERP (which I recently found out what that was and mean't).. For some dumb reason I kept thinking SERP and SerpIQ were the same, but only to realize the second is a tool. Forgive me for I am new to all this. Anyways checked a little of the competition I Could with Google (the top 10) competing for that KW.

I found a good domain name and it happens to be the KW so thats pretty cool and its a Dot COM. Now before I go and buy The Domain and so on, I want to check my competition out more Like "SerpIQ" does wihout using SerpIQ. The reason for this, is to Learn, I don't know whether to call it the "old school" Or "long" way of doing what SerpIQ does.. I heard SerpIQ is a great tool and I Am going to purchase it but before I Do I want to Learn how to do some of those searches on my competition without it so i can be more proactive, and Maybe somethings happens and SerpIQ just dies just a lot of different things..

So is there a way I can do that on Google.? Maybe there's a website I can visit and read about this you guys might want to shoot at me.. or if you guys feeling helpful today maybe you can just share some Information on this thread that would be great. Thanks In advance. Again, I'm New to this so excuse me if i asked or said something I wasn't suppose to. :2drinkspit:

Why if you're curious about SerpIQ don't you just try the free trial thereof? You'd probably learn more about SEO by seeing what a SEO puts in his SEO tool for other SEOs than fucking around with Google and trying to guess what you're looking at.

Yeah I could and I guess I Should but, you don't think I should try doing it the long way first..? I'm definitely going to buy SerpIQ but just wondering how to look at the info without it having it all thrown at you.. (which is fucking great) but just want to learn it the long way so i have more places to check on comp and so on. Is that a bad way of doing it.?

Plenty of free competition checkers. SERPIQ has a free trial, you can analyze like 3 or so keywords and then like 2 per day. More than enough for you atm I would guess.

Also, try Traffic Travis or Market Samurai which have free versions and trials.

SERP IQ is totally climbing up the charts as one of the most reliable SEO tools. I'm hanging on to my funds to buy one. Haha!

I promise we won't die like most of the shitty IM software on the market :)

I honestly recommend people to NOT buy serpIQ if they're unsure of where all the data comes from and what it means, simply because it's a tool meant to speed up a process you already know how to do rather than do magical things you don't actually understand yet. Now that being said, I do encourage you to grab a free account and ask me directly or post in our forums any questions you have about what's going on in the tool and we'll do our best to guide you along.

I think we might have to do a webinar soon that shows you how to manually research a keyword and then show you that same process in serpIQ, it might be people for some people. Unfortunately, manually analyzing a keyword's competition takes a long time to collect all the data for, but I'll work on a basic example at least to show you.

One more thing: we have this webinar March 8th Free Tutorial Webinar Recording - serpIQ Discussion - General where I talk for over an hour about each piece of serpIQ. Might be helpful for you at this point.

I'll take a look at that webinar dude thanks! yeah also i'm reading a pdf and have a question.. What is a "silo" to a keyword.?

a silo is a just a category of related content. Think of it like this: you have a site about lawn care, and you have a category full of posts about weedwhackers, one about lawn mowers, and one about grass seed. Each category would be a silo in this instance. They tend to link within themselves more than to other sections so they can help with organization and maintaining relevance.
