I'm currently using fasthosts.co.uk, and I need 2 separate accounts for my 2 sites, I get 2 separate bills etc.

This is gonna suck when I start wanting more domains and sites..

What's the best way to run multiple different sites and just add new domains when you feel like it?

If anyone could recommend me a good host I would be grateful. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out.

There's lots of solid hosts out there that offer cheap hosting ($6-8/mo annually) that also give you 10 or so domains to host as well. Or you can spend $25 and get a very nice reseller account for unlimited domains.

Eventually, work your way to owning 10 servers. ;)

Dreamhost.com offers unlimited domain hosting under 1 host account. They're good til you start getting around 3-5k hits/day, then they can't stay functional but until then they're good.

For 50 bucks you can get a virtual private server (VPS) and a couple of IPs and you're good to go.

Short story long a VPS is just like a dedicated server but in fact you share the hardware with a few other customers.

Main advantage is that you have root access can host as many domains as you please.

Also, you won't be hosted on the same IP as other 800 sites (such is the case with shared hosting).

The best provider (for me) was PowerVPS or something like that.

Cheers!

atommy, your recommendation for a VPS is severe overkill if you actually read and understand the OP.

He has 2 sites and wants to grow. Thus, a shared hosting environment is absolutely perfect. LunarPages or another hosting company would be a perfect fit to grow into. Or, a nice reseller plan from hostgator or other reseller offer would be of choice.

A VPS? Come on!!! VPS means VIRTUAL PRIVATE SERVER. If you are just starting, do you want to learn the ins and outs of a LAMP installation, install features via shell, manage resources, deal with corrupted php installs, etc? Seriously? A new person just wants managed fucking hosting, not something that will boggle their minds and overwhelm/frustrate.

Ya tell me about it.
I just rented a VPS almost a week ago to help motivate me to build, build, build.

I just got settled into everything within the last day or two. There was a hell of a lot to take in, it was very frustrating. I must have submitted 10+ tickets since. And I've been dealing with shared and reseller acounts for some time now so I thought VPS would be a breeze.
Certainly not the case.

Only go with VPS if you're willing to take the time to learn how it all operates.

although i dont like hostgator much, i do believe that they do it

I agree with ScottDaMan -- a VPS would be serious over kill for a couple of accounts... something with unlimited domains would work just fine for you...

Thanks for all the responses, very helpful information from everyone. Looks like I'm going to go with lunarpages.

Mediacatch .com is great for cheaper hosting

We have a message board that quite large thats still on a shared reseller hosting account there with no problems.

The prices are nice, but just wait till you cluster 20 servers together to have 1/4 of the DC filled :)

Just starting out as well.

I have 4 domain names so far.

Do I use on account per Domain name? Worried if I get kicked by google for any reason.

Do I need my own IP ( dedicated ) and do I need unlimited sub domains?

Which service would be good and easy for noobe?

Is Lunar OK?

hostgator.com i have 30 or so on my account...
+1 for HostGator.com

I'm hosting only 3 domains right now, but you can host unlimited domains and sub-domains.

I can't recommend Dreamhost.com. I've had hosting accounts with them before and I wouldn't go back. I know they're cheap, but you get what you pay for (IMO).
