movie streaming site

what is your view on sites where people can watch movies online? excluding copyright/infringement issues. I've always wanted to create one but never got around to it. Is that a bad start for a noob?

If you want to be legit, meaning you want the viewer to actually be able to view and enjoy the content, I would think you would need a good amount of capital to begin the venture. Video hosting gets expensive fast.

No, I don't plan on actually providing the user the full movie on my site. just refer them to 3rd party websites.

it's a huge market and there is a lot of opportunity in it. if you can legally use embedded videos from other sites and add your own unique content to the site -- it could be interesting without blowing up your bandwidth bills. otherwise- encoding and streaming videos can be a large undertaking.
