I can see how food prices would vary so much, depending on if people go for the fancy shit or the bargain bin, but I'd like to know what kind of cell phone plans people are rocking to rack up their bills so high.

Smart phone with internets for stat checkin + intl. calls to aff/ad networks usually gets it upto the 80s-90s

my personal phone plan (home + cell) runs well over a few hundred bucks a month on average.

lots of intl calls while out and a lot of travelling and calling from the states back into Canada, etc. texting is also a killer which is a big reason i got a blackberry for bbm.

Mortgage, Insurance, Tax: 1200
Student Loans: 350
Gym:65
Phones: 200-Total of 4 lines
Power/Gas: 200
Water: 50
Car/Insurance:300

I'm sure there's a little more out there, but that's most of it.

Jesus, I'm amazed at how little some of you have to pay for rent on nice houses.. Over here, the cheapest place in my town (a small 1 bedroom apartment) is $900 a month. I should move to the US...
1 bedroom apartment to rent in Bovingdon, HP3

I am a little older than you all so here is what you have to look forward to when you have a big house and 3 kids....

Mortgage: $2,980 a month
Food: $800ish a month
Health: $1,200 a month
Car insurance $180 a month
Electric $250-300 a month (I live in Texas and it gets Hot!)
Other Utilities: $150-200 a month (got a big lawn to water)
eating out:$500 a month (yes separate from groceries)
Cable/internet: $120 a month
Gas: $300 a month
wife and my cell: $200 a month
Home Insurance: $120 a month

So I am at $6K a month before entertainment or other expenses, booze, etc.

Seeing all these other numbers is sure making me consider a simpler life.
$180 a month car insurance? Do you crash a lot or something? :S Over here that'd be the premium for a 17 year old who's only just got their license, down to £100 a year after a few years (like 5)

haha.... I actually had it written down wrong in my budget. My wife and I pay $134.50 a month for auto insurance. Its full coverage on two cars over $50K.

Gotta love college:

Academic scholarship pays for housing. Housing cost: -$50 (monthly excess paycheck).
Cell phone: $20 (shared plan with a few others, have an iPod Touch for e-stuff).
Food: $300. I have a meal plan that helps a lot, but I also enjoy cooking and going out for the occasional meal.
Internet: Free Wi-Fi campuswide.
Insurance: $75 a month (Jeep Liberty).
Gas: $300 a month.

$695-$50=$645 a month + disposable income on things such as gifts and such.

Next year the real world is going to slap me in the face. I'm ready for it.
