Monetizing Movie domains

Someone will probably come out with an e-mail submit months before the movie comes out and you can use Amazon to monetize current Star Wars movies and memorabilia. Don't sit on the domain and wait until the movie comes out to monetize. Build the site now, bank small, and when the movie finally comes out the traffic will spike and you can bank more. Adsense might be one way to monetize if you are lazy, but there are other opps if you look.

I also think eventually putting a forum on there is a good idea consider all the Star Wars fans. Start with a WP blog. Consider setting up an autoblog using TweetBomb or something else that posts intelligent content and links based on Twitter or Google Trends, but definitely post some entirely unique content at least once a week.

I own a .com domain name that has the title for a new movie that is going to come out in the future in a big way (e.g. starwarsepisode1.com) what would be the best way to monetize it if any?

I'd opt them all in to some kind of "pre movie release" email series - helluva lot less work than a blog. One email each week of about 300 words or a quick youtube video.

Then when the movie comes out get commish sales off of movie related items.

The good thing is if you opt them in, you can get business from them again and and again.

Alternatively, if you grow a large list you can actually go to the movie owner and tell them "I have a list of 10,000 fans interested in your movie, let's play ball"

Opting-in = paid for life......you can also outsource the work of a weekly piece of content easily, poll the subscribers etc....take 5 minutes to do an opt in form with awebers new hosted forms and you can just redirect the name....

plus if you have a list you can sell the domain to the movie producers because the domain will already come iwth a built in fan base (i.e. your list of subscribers)....

I think the ZIP submit and putting some easy content behind a download/offer wall are 2 best ideas so far. But honestly... either won't make much cash. I'd just sell the domain and use cash for something more lucrative.
