Ok, I just started playing this on the network (yeah I know, way late to the party), but I've been busy making internetz monies.

Anyway, how the hell do you not get your ass killed every 3 seconds. I've been trying my hand in the free for all area, and I've got dudes coming out of fucking no where, slitting my throat, setting up claymores in places that you wouldn't even think of and all sorts of crazy shit. I was in a room in a 3 story building, and some guy on the street below puts an M203 round right through the window and blows me to all hell and back. Now how the hell did he know I was up there? Are these guys using weapons and gear that aren't available to me? It seems like they know where I am, but I have no clue what's around the next corner.

I don't want to be king shit of MW2, I'd just like to kill a few guys without getting raped every 5 seconds. I'm not unskilled at these games, but the action seems to move at an unreal pace. I need some tactics so I don't look like a complete douche in there. LOL.

Get some hacks. Everyone does it. Poor VAC implementation ftw. At one point they had hacks that would kick all the non-pirate-version players from the game. So much fail.

^ hacks aren't as much as a problem now. I tried hacks on two keys I brought, and got both keys blocked within 48 hours of using each.

To the OP, when I first started playing it on PSN, I had the same problem. But after 30-40 games, you'll get a much better feeling of each map, and the typical spots people stay at. Also, when you get killed, watch the killcam to check out the other guy's class.

In regards of them knowing how you were there, it could be:
- Using hack.
- Using heartbeat sensor.
- They used the UV killstreak.
- Annoying ass noobtubers blindly shooting into popular player spots.

Also, get out of FFA, and play team games so you have someone to rely on and learn from.

Yeah, once you put some hours in you'll know the maps pretty well, and you'll know where people tend to camp. You'll also develop your own strategy to do best in each map. You'll also start building custom classes to suit each map, too.

I think I have 5 days worth of play now, and I still can't consistently win games, but I'm usually top three now. I only play free for all. Don't like anything else.

-If you're using short range weapons(which I'm guessing you are until you get scopes unlocked) try and stick to skinny corridors. If you run into someone really close, knife..don't shoot.

-When someone fires they show up on the mini map. Even if you're not right next to them, keep track of where most of them are.

-Most positions that seem great for hiding, aren't. Pay attention to how many angles you're visible from.

-After firing and there's no longer people in the immediate vicinity, get the fuck out. People follow the orange dot on the mini map.

-The game is hard when you're new not just because you're new, but because you're using shitty weapons. Get a heartbeat monitor asap.

-Run everywhere. The less time you cross someone's line of sight, the better

-Pay attention to where your teammates are. If there's no orange dots around them, no one's firing at them. If you have to leave a side of you exposed, let it be the side your team controls.

Once you get around level 50 or 60 it starts getting really easy.

Its rare im ranked 2 or 3 on the match, normally I get #1 for kills unless really good people come in. Im only on my 1st prestige I think im level 50.

Once you get the hang of the maps, how everything works, ect ect it starts getting super easy

I got annoyed with the transition from MW1 to 2 so I just went back. Like the other guys are saying, knowing the maps is key with either of them.

Want to really get owned, try hardcore HQ Pro ;) thats my game. You need to camp to some extent if you aren't running and gunning (Marathon pro, Lightweight, Submachine guns, shotguns, tactical knifing). You need to have a few areas down, and get an idea of where the spawn spots are, thats key. use cover. If anyone wants to play on xbox hit me up, same name. Once you get all of the pro perks and guns you will go through stages of gameplay..you'll run and gun, and struggle to have a positive K/D, then you'll probably noob tube with scavenger or one man army, then you'll learn to snipe etc.

I'm finding that I can have dudes point blank, and it won't fucking kill them, but they can hit me on the run just shooting in my general direction. WTF..is it the weapons they're using?

If your playing on PC you could be up against an AIM bot, good luck with that. I've seen them on xbox and you don't have much of a chance if they are running a LMG aimbot. Otherwise your accuracy probably sucks atm. Check your stats, whats your accuracy %.

Reminds me of 007 on the N64 back in the day. Studied all the spawning spots, order in which you re-appear and dropped proximity mines etc..dead as you respawn lol.

I'm playing on PS3. I'll have to check my accuracy, but I didn't think I was that bad.

The default weapons you start with aren't nearly as good as what most players you are going against use. It gets a lot easier once you have some better weapons unlocked.

I'm not good, but I don't own the game. I sometimes go to my neighbor's house, and he's pretty good.

1. Know the maps!! He knows the maps because he plays more than a 31 year old should. You need to get on youtube and look through the map tutorials - the one that I saw was great.

2. Use your radar. I suck at it, but it tells you where everyone is.

3. Start off with a weapon where you have a grenade launcher. The "no0b tube" as they call it.. helps you out until you get better at your weapon.

4. Keep playing... but you'll start losing internet monies!

I disagree in that the starting weapon options are at a disadvantage. One of the classes they start you out with is the L86 LMG. I'm using that gun right now, and it rapes. Rapes hard.
