Nothing Can Be Explained
Alright I set up itunes for my cousin where it pulls all the music from one section of his EHD and makes new folders so Itunes can sync. The problem is that he deleted all the new folders that it made which had all his music. 67gb worth of music. My question is, is there a way I can get that back? It's from an external

Ontrack Easy Recovery FTW

Check torrent sites for the current version
 
GetDataBackNTFS, Active@ Uneraser, a few other programs...

Download Hiren's Boot CD 10.0 and run any of the data recovery tools on it. They're paid software, but all the licenses on that CD are cracked.
 
On a more serious note, I've had good luck with TuneUp Utilities in the past. It has a feature called Undelete that works quite well at times.

Oh, this reminds me. The company that makes CCleaner [Priform] has a program called Recuva that might work well in this situation.

Dude, it's a filesystem, it's recoverable.

The one I have installed is 6.10, but that's probably old, but it will still do teh job

As long as there haven't been several things overwritten on top of the partitions and sectors on the disk, you can get any data back. There's a reason that military grade track erasers use 35 or more passes of overwriting data :p

Just keep in mind that the more you mess with a disk, the greater the chance is that you can't recover everything entirely.

Have your cousin re-buy all the music at his own expense and make sure he understands it's a stupidity tax.

Then forbid him from doing anything else on his computer but hit the play button and check his facebook.

if it is in the recycle bin make sure its all there before restoring it. If any is missing DON'T restore it. It'll overwrite a lot of your data making it hard to recover. Then use a recovery program.

I use Active@ File Recovery. Free downloads. Download software and recover deleted files
it's only $35 lifetime use but it does a better job than most of the super expensive ones.
Select the external drive. Click quick scan. When that finishes click Super Scan. When that finishes click recover all
