People will cry and stuff like the Diana thing. I personally don't feel this emotional connection that many share with celebrities. They are in the spotlight but still only people. It's not like they are close relatives or something. It's probably just because I'm a cold bastard maybe?

The music had a profound effect on a lot of people that grew up the 80s. I'm not at all a Jackson fan, but he was the top selling artist of all time and to die at 50 is kind of shit. I don't think the emotion lies in the person but in the experiences people had while growing up and listening to the music.
Exactly how I feel. So unexpected.
MJ is a such a talent. No one else could even come close.

I'm going to play his music while I work in memory of him. Fortunately I rarely watch TV so I'm mostly going to avoid the incoming media craze for the next few weeks.

I really believe he had a crack-up and an intervention 20 years ago might have saved him. Once you're famous and very, very rich you can be as nutty as you want to be. He died relatively young and crazy like Elvis.
