As most of you know, myself, TylerL and Rage9 are launching AutoLP. As we near the launch I'm trying to secure what merchant we are going to use. We don't need any high risk merchants because that won't be a problem.

I've been talking back and forth with merchant services at my bank but they don't seem to have a clue about online businesses. They told me the model was too risky(monthly rebills, but it isn't a free trial method. You sign up at $97 a month at the price stays at $97 a month). So I don't see how that's risky at all.

They didn't seem to understand much about websites and only had a few options for me to begin with as far as payment gateways go.

I'd prefer to stay away from Paypal, and Clickbank isn't the greatest either. Does anyone have any suggestions, or are there any merchant providers on here, that would be willing to help out?

On a side note, for those of you that are waiting for AutoLP - we know we're behind when we wanted to launch. We decided to make sure the product was the best it can be - didn't want anyone unhappy so it's taking us a little while longer. We should be in beta in the next few days - will keep you updated via the mailing list.

Bank's suck at merchant accounts in general i wouldn't suggest ever getting one through your bank unless they specifically know the interwebs someone like HSBC is pretty good or Humbolt bank.

Even though you say it is low risk the underwritters will look at monthly subscriptions and online transactions as a "higher" risk. I would look for a ISO (Independent Sales Office) that sells credit card processing equipment (they do merchant accounts as well don't buy any equipment at all unless you are planning on swiping cards which i doubt) they should be able to sign you up quickly and easily and know what your talking about with recurring billing.

Authorize.net is a pretty good source for merchant accounts they are a gateway but from what i know i think they can hook up MA's as well

Network Merchants and Link Pay are two others that should be able to get you set up pretty easily

Other suggestions are:

Litle and Co
Optimal Payments
PowerPay
Moneris

These are some bigger players in the continuity billing space as such their fees are a little higher and they may ask for some in reserve but if you can't find a good local guy these guys can help.

i have some contacts at Litle as well as Optimal if you want to go that route

Wells Fargo will let you do rebills as long as it's not forced continuity, if you have a business bank account there the setup fee is waived and you get your money the next day instead of 2-3 days. If not, just go with a Wells Fargo ISO such as charge.com

Another option is ECSuite, they are the mainstream version of CCbill which has been processing for adult sites for a while. The downsides are that they charge 4.5%, have a 5% 6 month hold, and can only do weekly payouts. But if you can't get setup with a diirect merchant account they are probably the best for 3rd party billing.

Because Paypal has a way of freezing large amounts of money and making you fight for it for weeks on end. The fees are also higher than a standard merchant account.

Paypal 1.9% for high volume accounts. Not sure where you can get better than that.

You also NEED to consider that many AM's,IM's have lots of 'playmoney' sitting in their paypal account.

Meaning that me for example, I would be about 10x as likely to buy/subscribe to something if they take paypal because I have money laying around it it. So its like casino chips

But if I have to whip out my CC, then it is a different story . Have to think twice about it.

Paypal is actually better than people think. Though if you get into high-volume you can usually get a Rep who will make your life easier.

Another thing they HATE HATE HATE is you taking out your money as soon as it is deposited. From their perspective, when you do this it leaves them liable for the refund and combine this with a digital product and you get flags drawn.

But if you still are afraid of paypal, 2c0 is pretty good, I think they charge %5.4 and they still accept payment via paypal so you get all the IM's with the 'playmoney'

Merchant Account Provider - Accept Credit Card Payments Today With CDG Commerce!

I used CDG a number of years ago for the merchant account on a web hosting company, and they were great to deal with. They're big in the hosting industry, and that's an industry used to fraud, monthly billing, and of course, internet transactions (all higher risk than what standard banks see with card present, single charge transactions). They have a gateway with Authorize.net emulation which would work well with pretty much any off the shelf cart/billing system.

I would use paypal

I generally won't signup for a rebill with someone who uses their own merchant account

Or just add paypal as an option, you'll be losing if you don't.

Also you get an account rep with higher volume, no dealing with indian support, no worries about locked accounts.

Fuck paypal. You should just go with the largest merchant account - Quickbooks Merchant Services from Intuit (makers of turbotax, quicken, etc.). They will not approve you if you have a real shitty credit score or if you're doing anything remotely shady. If everything's legit, then you can't beat their support and there are no hidden fees. I used to work for intuit. great people to work with (except the managers in my department).

paypal website payments pro is super solid. I use it on high volume ecommerce sites. Have even had chargebacks and never had a problem.

Dude OP, how about new adwords rule ? Where it says that similar LPs will be fucked. It looks like your tool create just them, I maybe mistaken.

Ya sorry, that's what I meant. I think Payflow Pro is only the gateway and Website Payments Pro is gateway + merchant account.

Also, what narsticle is saying is true. We ran around $10M in transactions through it in a year and had a LOT of chargebacks. Never had a problem either.
