Matt Cutts on the move, or April Fools prank?

Matt Cutts worked on his Ph.D. in computer graphics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

LOOOOL

They updated the team page and added a profile page, so the joke is on more than just one page. They kind of jumped the gun on releasing it, though?

He sure knows a lot of secrets. I wonder if Google gives him some incentive to sign a non-compete if he ever leaves.

The real joke comes in a few weeks when they roll out their penalty for non-responsive sites.

Isn't the bridge-page update supposed to come before the mobile update?

Google's earnings haven't been impressive, so I'd expect a shitstorm to happen organically to push more SMBs to AdWords.

The QS "bug" noticed on Friday could be a clue as to what Google is up to? Artificially lower QS to increase CPCs/CPMs? I'm suspicious because one account's brand term campaign's CPC are up 50% YTD YoY, while CTRs for said campaign are up 30%. Same competitors as always, but impression share is also down. Mid 5 figure annual spend on just the brand campaign, so it is fairly significant.

and it's all over the web. If it turns out to be a joke then Globerunner still wins with all the free publicity, why would he leave Google to join an agency!
