Manbox

My biggest challenges has just been breaking out of who I thought I'm supposed to be based on 30+ years of social conditioning. And while I've managed to say a big Fuck You to the world, without even realizing it, sometimes I internalize it and still feel guilt/inadequate if I'm not living up to that "womanbox". That's when I get really pissed. Sneaky fucks.

Nice one, most people will never break free, or even realise there is a choice.

ROFL.....

Also just random side-note, but IMO, real men who have a problem with a situation like that don't hesitate in telling their friends how it is. If they're real friends they'll respect it. Not understand it, or look up to it, but respect it.

Unfortunately most people don't realize that when they're 12 years old.

I thought this would happen - most people missing the point completely - and exposing the man boxes they live in.

It is not about "becoming like a woman" it is about "if you show emotions as a man, that's OK"...

Let's put this in a broader perspective - to be really, really free, try liberating yourself from societies expectations.

Expectations of your role as a man or woman, as a worker, as a "white guy" or "black guy", expectations of you as a "middle class" person or an "upper class" person.

The moment you do this, you will meet massive resistance, whatever it is you are doing that is outside of the norm. (Most of those here who are self-employed know this reaction already.)

You decide to drive a beater while living in an upscale neighborhood? You got some resistance coming to you, from surprised looks to snide remarks.

Decide not to drink anymore and you'll be asked left and right what is wrong with you.
(did that)

Decide to move to Thailand to live royally from mediocre AM income?

Decide to post a video exposing societies man-box on a male-dominated forum? see above.

etc, etc..

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to emp again.

Best post I've read on WF in a while.

You want to pay more taxes and are met with resistance. But you break free.

You want to give up your own identity and become what others say you should be and are met with resistance. But you break free.

You don't like to think for yourself, you prefer others telling you what to do. When you want to stop thinking, you meet resistance. But you break free.

Boxes are boxes, bro. You're just jumping from one box into another.

Right, putting yourself in a box is lame and we should be free to be who we naturally are.

I think the problem is that many women see us men acting like the wild creatures we are and conclude that we must be trying to fit in or impress each other. I believe if they could see the actual numbers, they would be surprised how many men are actually being themselves and doing what they want vs trying to fit into some sort of societal mold.

I bed women because I enjoy it. I drink copious amounts of booze and do reckless things when I'm drunk because it is so dang fun. I make crude and offensive jokes with friends because it is hilarious. That's it and that's all!

Jack, you're the last person I'd ever accuse of being in a manbox. Even with that last paragraph. Infact, that is my point. You obviously enjoy your life and being who you are and that's all that matters.
Then again, I don't have to date you. :P
