I am looking into all kinds of different options with regards to the direction of my company. I am currently developing websites for local companies. As I become more experienced at this, I can see where this might end up being mildly profitable.

As I've been thrust into SEO and Online Marketing, I am being exposed to other various revenue vehicles. After looking at some things, I am left wondering if I should stop making sites for others, and begin making them for myself.

To bottom line it, what do you think is more profitable, website design/hosting or affiliate/pay-per-click and drop-shipping initiatives?

What are your thoughts on each of these topics?

1. Web-design
2. Affiliate/PPC Marketing
3. Drop-Shipping

I think it probaby depends on what you like doing and what you're good at. There's someone making sick amounts of money in any field

I started out doing web design and there is good money in it but it is limited. There are only so many hours in a day that you can work so your revenue is pretty much capped at the amount of hours you can work. If you build sites for yourself the income they bring in is for the most part passive, there is no limit to what you can make.

Another problem that has surfaced in the design game in the past few years is outsourcing. A lot of companies are starting to outsource projects to countries like India where their designers will work dirt cheap, forcing american designers to lower their prices.

a few months ago I was in exactly the same spot as you, pretty much. Now I'm trying to get some content websites online for myself. One thing I can tell you is that there are in fact millions to be made, if you know what you're doing.

Yeah, I just don't think I want to continue building sites for other people right now. They are using their's to make money and I think it is time I do the same thing (for myself).

umm...excuse me, what is drop-shipping? :D
selling products through a wholesaler who is willing to ship them to your customers
essentially you sell products through ebay or or websites without ever seeing the actual product
