"Mad Libs" Style Form Increases Conversion 25-40%

ok guys im launching this split test now...ill let u know the exact results in a couple days i guess,

maybe ill update news tomorrow

Auto Fillers will still work on this provided you still set up the fields and labels as you would a normal form.

I think that seeing the input as a message to be sent might also reduce the "I don't want to just be in a mailing list".

Could you include in the text "Please feel free to contact me with future offers" and require a check box to remove that text?

Ok,
quick update:
the narrative style is outperforming the traditional style...not enough numbers yet but its very promosing

Traditional form: 124 clicks / 2 conversions
Narrative form: 132 clicks / 7 conversions

Ill keep you all posted.

That's really crazy - it goes against a bunch of stuff in Luke's book on form design. But who cares what a book says if your user testing tells you otherwise.

Update on my test:
10 conversions / 378 clicks ---> TRADITIONAL FORM
12 conversions / 373 clicks --> NARRATIVE FORM

Awesome! Gonna give this a shot too. This site also has some cool info on some A/B tests, which one won, and why whichtestwon.com. Always gotta think about the context of these tests though. Seems like something that could be rad for certain verticals!

This is awesome! How come I never thought of that?

*** BTW Coder needed for 2 jobs (madlibs style CSS design+validation), PM if interested. sorry for hijacking the thread

Jesus christ people stop talking as if this is the ghospel. Someone ran a split test on an unorthodox form method and it had an increase in conversions - this on it's own is insignificant. You have to do a lot more testing to completely confirm this.

I don't think it will outperform a standard form but I'm completely open to this idea. Will probably test it in some manner.
