Here I finished it for ya:

your pretty damn good at photoshop

Jizz - of course a huge mirror would open up that space a little bit and make it appear roomier, but I've always had an idea for windowless rooms like that..

Take a high quality digital picture out of ANY window [scene] and have it printed on a canvas the approximate size of the window(s), with the window frame "framing" the picture sort of speak. The canvas will give you some depth and texture.

Hang on wall and voila, you've got a window and a view, any view you want..

Imagine looking out your huge fake window and seeing the beach? a forest scene? snowcapped mountain?

Or as you mentioned earlier, build an actual [window] frame and use it for any image you want..

Nice buildout, did you do it all yourself? How big's your basement? I have almost 900 sq ft to work with and it's completely raw/unfinished, I just wonder how much it'll cost to frame, drywall, run some electrical and plumbing, how much are you spending?

(ps) with the idea above in mind, since you've not drywalled yet, you may even be able to imbed a FAKE windown (with scene) into your (dry) wall so it does not appear to "hang" on the wall so much.. hhmmmm... ideas..

Basement is huge - almost 1700 sq ft, but it's a sprawling ranch with no second floor. I'm in the northeast so I had to insulate as well. Me and a buddy framed it out and wired it (he's a licensed electrician) - I traded him an old snowmobile I had. I had already plumbed in a framed bathroom when I built the house. So far in materials - framing, insulation, wiring I'm at about $3000. Another, $1000 for the sheet rock, $2250 quote from someone who will mud/tape/sand/prime all sheet rock, another $2300 for doors/closet doors, $1100 for trim materials, $3000 for flooring and $2700 for drop ceiling (grid system/2x2 tiles), $1000 for paint. Considering a few more unknowns, I'm looking at a DIY tab of around $17,000 - $19,000 finished (unfurnished, of course). Will easily give me four times that in equity.

Why would you go with a drop ceiling, they are ugly as fuck.

I've got radiant heat tubing under my main floor. I would like to be able to access that and all of my plumbing if necessary in the future. Also, they sell a system that attaches directly to the floor joists so there is no "drop" really, so I can maximize headroom.
