Looking for a new laptop

People always ask me how old my laptop is, even when it was brand new, but Lenovos aren't for looks.

i don't understand why ppl complain Thinkpad's designs. It looks like a serious business machine, not a cheap shiny plastic toy like Dell's Latitude or HP ENVY.

I love my Dell.. but this thread is making me want to try out the thinkpad.
keep checking slickdeal.net cause lenovo give 10~15% coupon code from time to time. I got mine for $910 after shipping and tax. the MBP with the same spec will cost a thousand dollar more

Go for a Sony Vaio. I've been using mine for over two years now and its been running as smooth as ever! These Japs sure know how to make their stuff right.

I had (still have it in my museum) a Toshiba Portege R 150. It was expensive when I bought it and they have stopped making it I guess... It was the BEST laptop I ever owned.

I bought a High END HP and sold it off within a Month.
Lenovo is Pretty Stable.. I have a T60 and I heard that T400 is a breeze..

But somehow I love my Macbook better. It is not even a Pro, and I am thinking of buying a pro.. I m waiting till fit in the newer processors into the 13".. I like my laptops small.
Maybe because I am not a gamer..
But then again I have never used a Fully Loaded Windows Custom Build machine.

I would give my Vote to Lenovo though... Just make sure to buy THINKPAD, and T Series
Ideapad SUCKS..

What is your collective opinion of Dell Latitude. I once used a Latitude.. company Provided..

As much as I hate IBM my T60 did survive a pretty insane truck fire while tucked inside a leather bag. It never smelled quite the same afterwards.

I've purchased 3 laptops the last 5 years for my kids heading to college.

First was a Toshiba netbook with a swivel screen for my daughter that is an Art major. Almost 5 years old and the only problem was when she tossed a huge college textbook in the front seat and it landed on the top of the computer and cracked the screen internally. Had the insurance and got the screen replaced in a few days.

Next I needed to buy 2 more laptops around the same time period a few years ago for my two sons. They were both looking for super media machines and after all was said and done we went with a 17" Dell and a 17" Toshiba.

As far as performance, reliability, support and functionality they have both been excellent machines with no problems whatsoever. The Dell is a monster that feels indestructible whereas the Toshiba is lighter and has a much sleeker look and feel.

I would recommend Dell or Toshiba without hesitation but the bottom line in choosing ultimately will come down to the needs and desires of the buyer.
