Not sure what CL has implemented, but the WF has a snazzy new quasi-Digg like deal where if x number of members with a combined rep of y (with x and y totally unknown to anyone and presumably arbitrary and meaningless) hit the abuse button the thread is nuked. I've already seen it happen to a couple of completely harmless threads over such stupidity as "people not playing nice" and that kind of thing ... it's just a total joke. To paraphrase PJ O'Rourke, giving mod powers to forum members is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

What I love is the new "members are moderators" feature they kicked in last month ... once the cliques get cemented the whole forum will turn into a crazed orgy of edit warfare, and the entertainment value will skyrocket.
Why do you doubt it? It has worked sooo well for craigslist.
