I'm sure I don't need to tell you people this, but it was sure as hell a surprise to me. I just put a computer desk and entertainment center up on craigslist for free and within the first 20 minutes had 48 emails from people wanting it. Within 45 minutes someone had picked them up.

Jesus.

I could offload my entire apartment in a few hours if I wanted.

Happened to me as well. I had a bunch of carpet rolls in my garage from a recent install at my house. These were oddball sizes like 3x24 (basically useless pieces). I put them on CL for free and had the same response.

People were beating a path to my door for my junk.

I honestly would love to see some real (not compete) demo data on the people who spend a lot of time on that site. I bet they're real scroungy.

Once I offered my netbook for sell for like $200, I got a broke college student who suggest I give it to her, she'll pay it back in installments.

I don't buy shit off craigslist anymore not worth the hassle.

And you fell for it?!

He's leaving out the part that the installment payments were 5 different toothy blow jobs. In the end he climaxed to something that resembled an orgasm but now questions himself if it were just the sudden onset of a rare STD.\

No. I ended up selling it to some Indian guy who low balled me :(

First time I ever got low balled in my life, felt weird man.

Yeah, it's unbelievable. Immediate and nonstop inquiry until the listings are removed.

These guys at hoodtalk pretty much ruined this guys life by putting up ads for free xboxes, tvs, gay ads on craigslist.

I was just thinking how you could ruin someones life as I was getting all of those emails.

3 years ago somebody did just that as a hoax. They posted an ad to "come and take what you want. Everything is free." -- people came and stripped the entire house down to the studs.

I had a bunch of asshole lowballers last time I listed something on craigslist. Some of them were so rude it was ridiculous. I can not understand how they thought they could be so rude, then expect me to give them a deal.

I get rid of all my garbage via craigslist. Haven't had to pay a dump fee in years. Put "free" in the title and *poof* gone in 60 seconds....

CL Trashdump Tip: Worried ppl will not come pick up? Just tell them on the phone that 3 other guys just called, and in all honesty, if they can get their asses over in nothing flat, it's theirs, first come first served. Works a treat, never had anything stay out regardless of how stupid the item is.

I buy and sell a lot of camera equipment on CL and i get tons of rude low ball offer.

Usually i pretend to accept their offer because i really need money. Ask them to meet me in different borough and i never show up.

those dumbass always fell for it

Yep. If every you need something or need to get rid of something no matter how random it is, you will get alot response.

We had a crate of bricks in our garage from when we moved into the house. Leftover bricks the same color as the house. Hubby was like lets list it on cl for free and have them come pick them up so we don't have to lug them somewhere. I was like screw free. Try selling first, then free. He couldn't figure out why anyone in the world would pay for miscolored bricks. I couldn't figure it out either but like I said, random shit right? So the next day we had someone at our house lugging away the bricks and 100 bucks in our pocket.

I also put an ad in for a cleaning lady. Said exactly what I wanted (laundry done and cleaning) and exactly what I would pay for it. I've had her for over a year now.

I love bargaining. I think this culture misses out with fixed pricing. As a seller All you do is offer it for a little more (knowing your probably going to get lowballed) or say fixed. No biggie.
