Does it matter if you put them all on the same shared hosting account?

Do you need different IPs for your sites for seo purposes?

Depends on who you ask. Many SEO's like to keep any of their relates sites not just on different IP's, but on different c-blocks. It probably won't be much of an issue in the meantime if you don't interlink them, but who knows if google will crack down on it more in the future.

Being that somebody could be on your server's shared IP address with a website of the same topic, it's doubtful that you'd be penalized for it. But if both (or all) the domains have the same whois info, and are registered through the same registrar, you could potentially run into some issues as that would make it a lot easier for the bots to tie the domains together.

I usually have the same hosting account for related niches, but I have the domains registered elsewhere. They usually do share the same IP though. Never really thought that they might have adverse affects on interlinking.

Some SEO people are speculating that it might be bad for domains to be on the same class c ip range if you're planning to interlink them, that the links won't be worth as much as they would be otherwise.

I don't think it makes much of a difference. As long as your sites have different domains, it shouldn't matter too much.

You may be alright with it now, but the SE's are only gonna get more stright about it in the future. You might as well be ahead of the curve.
