Lets hear it WF... Who got an iPhone?

I bought one. Very nice piece of equipment. The web browser is very tight. I still have to get to e-mail and such, but they have done a very good job with this device. I have probably used it 15 hours since I bought it last night.

And it has 3g-UMTS/HSDPA, a REAL keyboard, Wifi, a removable battery, plays music, videos, I can send and receive email, access this forum and post, draw, sketch, paint on the screen, unfortunately Apple is an amazing marketing machine that can sell shit and call it gold and millions believe it.

It looks beautiful, but any device that has no real keyboard will never be a good business machine IMO.

Now take that design and make it slide open like the htc tytn and open it up to third party applications? Then you'll have an amazing machine.
 
They say the 3G version of the Ipod will be out in October ready for UK launch. Apple know that if they try and sell a non 3G handset in the UK then it will flop as every decent phone and its dog has 3g and has done for ages
 
I'm going to wait till October or November when the 2nd gen should come out.
It was definitely rushed to the market. They didn't have time to fix all the bugs so they opted to remove features instead.
 
The Apple store only had 4GB by the time I got there, but I don't think I'm going to get it. The Nokia N95 and a few other phones really dump all over this as far as technology goes. Samsung and Nokia should have some more handsets coming up which explore multi-touch technology a little deeper. LG had a kiler phone in the LG Prada but they were silly and gave away the phone to Prada and went weith a black and white "vogue" interface...stoopid move IMHO

Yeah only problem with ALL those phones is the software and usability sucks. Features are meaningless if they are not accessible or usable.

FYI a real keyboard on a device like this is a horrible thing. Your little tiny buttons, and complete inflexibility. With a touchscreen you can actually tailor the layout and keys to each application making each one usable and not a game of guess what mini-keyboard key does what.

Of course you could argue that the HTC you have has awesome software and a very simple and easy to naviagate interface, if you like.

I won't get into the inferior screen size and battery life your phone has compared to an iPhone.

Sorry to call bullshit on you but my "little tiny buttons" are at least real buttons that click and have tactile feel when they are pushed, I know when they are pushed which the iphone will never have. And I will give away screen size and battery life to have my UMTS/HSDPA connection any day. EDGE is so slow in comparison.

You can argue that you have wifi (which my phone also has), but can you download actual content easily and quickly? I check my favorite RSS feeds and download whatever podcasts I want to listen to directly to my phone with my rss reader, for example I listen to Andrew Wee's podcasts through my rss reader, most of his podcasts download in a couple of minutes or less, how long would that take on the iphone when no wifi is around?

I can type a quick word doc on my phone can the iphone? I can edit an excel spreadsheet if I need to can the iphone? I have full outlook integration does the iphone? I can install applications on my phone... a simple idea right? Shit I can install crap java apps on a $30 att phone, and the iphone can't.

Why would apple release a phone without 3G? crappy "low-cost with plan" phones on both verizon and att have hi-speed connectivity and the boys at Apple created a 56k brick? You can say edge is faster than 56k but in most case you'll be lucky to even get that speed.

I can tether my laptop to my phone and use it as a modem to browse the internet at UMTS/3G speeds, can the iphone do that?

Your yet another apple fanboy who will drink the Koolaid instead of being realistic about the product.


Like I said before, give me a real keyboard and 3G or EVDO service with ability to tether to a laptop and you have a winner for power-users, shit if they did that I would consider the iphone the best piece of personal electronics ever, but instead it's just an expensive toy that you can make phone calls on.
