Anyone here know the legal process when using ad images on a place like facebook?

Say you grab an image of google of some chick, what legal steps do they have to take before suing if they see themselves and are all pissed off?

Thanks,

I think you would get a C & D sent to you before they could do anything.

im guessing you have to worry more about the advertiser getting in trouble and not paying you.
But ive had someone email me about seeing their picture in a dating ad. So i use stock images now.

you might- by some idiot who has the guy she's blowing at some community college who's "Pre-law" draft some threatening letter while hung over, however anyone who's actually going to do more than bitch SHOULD simply sue you and simultaneously the advertiser.

the real question is how much will it cost to make it all go away and how much you'll make from the campaign AND the likelyhood of someone a) noticing, b) finding you, c) bothering to jump through hoops to take action.

bang in your estimates and decide whether it's worth it to you.

I'd worry more about using Getty images without paying for them. They are very aggressive about their images and will usually send you a hefty invoice in the $3000k range for each image.

I heard that they can somehow trace their images being used across the Internet. Did I hear wrong or is this true? And if so, how the hell can you do that?

Not sure if Getty polices their stuff exactly in this manner, but if you're simply looking for how to trace an image across the web, try something like tineye.com. Does a pretty decent job of finding where a certain image is posted.

If you grab a chick off google and she gets mad she doesn't track down a fucking affiliate...

she goes to the advertiser and says quit using my image or ill sue, the advertiser tells the network to stop any traffic with those creatives, the network has the affiliate change up the ads....

Yes, but what if you had the option to either sign over 100% liability to yourself, or you had to run paid stock photos?

Hopefully, this is all that will happen.

You really think that picture of that dumb chick can afford a lawyer? Only if her dad is a trademark lawyer will you have any kind of problem, not to mention that you wouldn't be targeting females with a picture of a girl, so said person could never see the picture anyway. Unless of course her retarded brother whose single sees it but then again he would probably laugh and not even know it's an ad.
