I don't really see a section where this question belongs, so I created this thread in the Newb section.

So I have some clients who have payed me for doing their seo.
Up untill now I have had the pleasure of getting them great Serp movements.

However, in the future there might be instances when I do not get positive results, or even worse, negative results. I am careful with which services I employ, and always tread cautiously, but hey, It could happen.

So my questions are:

1 )Does anyone have a template for a legal document that exempts me from responsibility if I ever get negative results?

2) Is there anything else I should be aware of?

You should be selling a service and not results.

Write a proposal of the actions you will undertake on a monthly basis as part of your seo "service", explaining how these things will help their results without making any stupid guarantees. As long as you fulfil these actions there should be very little room for any legal action.

lesson learned the easy way.. .even though we will get a lot of clients with the SERP Guarantee's that means more complaints and more refund rate's... So sell a service not any shitty guarantee's...

Thanks man!

You should have a contract written up prior to providing your services that outlines exactly what your company will do for the client. You should never guarantee results for SEO services, because you don't control search engine rankings. As mentioned earlier, you are selling your services/knowledge, not a guaranteed spot on Google.
