Leaving America...

Just got done watching a show where this cook from the food network(fat guy with orange hair) and a couple of models travel through Spain eating good food and visiting historic monuments. Looks pretty awesome bro. If I had a lot of money I would like to check it out, + I hear Spanish is the easiest of the European languages to learn.

Haha, I didn't see that, but you sound like you have the same frame of mind as I do...
"That new place looks fucking AMAZING and I want to be there"
haha

As far as Spanish being easy to learn, I have no clue... I grew up in San Diego and probably knew more people in my school years whom spoke spanish than I did people that spoke English, and I still only know like 14 fucking words of spanish!

Then again, I've heard that English is one of the hardest languages to learn, so at least I got good at something! hahaha

Yeah Dublin is one of my favorite cities, excellent bars, clubs etc. and really nice city apartments. Were quite accommodating to people aswell especially Americans, they were accommodating for the Irish during the famine :)

1 or 2 bedroom apartment, middle of the city, new place, new people, new 'world' = FTW.

Plus, I always pass for being Irish anyways! Although, I don't know why... My family is all fucking German and Dutch... Maybe its the pale skin. :)

Viviun the Leader in International Property Listings

pretty sweet website, not sure if you have seen it or not, it lists international properties. I've considered getting the fuck out as well

Also Ireland Real Estate Properties For Sell Buy Rent Owners Agents

I'm gonna take a look at it right now...

I hate the fact that it's such a 'process' to get the fuck out of dodge...

Then again, I grew up watching people flood across the borders into the U.S....

Maybe I could just sneak into another country and live there tax-free! ;)
haha

LOL, Vancouver just got awarded the most expensive city in North America, comparable to the average household income, in North America or something.

Not to thread jack or anything but have any of you lived/are living in Switzerland. I was there a few weeks ago and loved it - wouldn't mind getting a spot in Geneva since it's so close to great skiing and everything.

I know plenty of you are outside of the US, and if I remember correctly, some of you are Expats...

To put it bluntly, I am just tired of America... I am in my mid twenties, and I have experienced much of what America has to offer.

So...

Thanks guys

I agree with the TAXES part that many of the other people have posted, we have some of the lowest taxes in the world. Having lived abroad, although American is not perfect, it is by far the best. Also, have you thought that YOU will be the foreigner, not the other way around? That you will be the one subject to discrimination just b/c you are an American?

Perhaps a better thing to do would be to find a job overseas and live there for a short period of time, a test if you will, then if all is going well, then consider it permanent.

One country worth adding to the list is Brazil. Great everything!!!! (not perfect, just great) (I'm married to a Brazilian).

Another note. If you have a US Passport, you STILL have to pay US taxes.

But you can get $80k exemption if you spend at least 330 days out of the country (or just funnel all your money through your offshore business!) with form 2555-EZ

No worries, I wonder the same thing.

move to monaco. super high cost of living, but enjoy 0 income tax and 0 capitals gains tax.

Really....? I'm gonna go Wiki Monaco now :) lol

Yes, I know I will be the foreigner, but that's alright with me. Where in the US do you live? Growing up in the far South West, I have been the 'minority' my entire life, it's something I can handle :)

Was actually just going to ask if anyone here has done that exact thing... The issue is finding employment... I have been floating myself with my own shit for about 6 years now... The whole 'job' thing is something I am not too experienced with.

Brazil sounds awesome too! I guess I didn't really think my list through... lol
And yes, Brazilian women are hot as hell too!

u should check Holland (Amsterdam) too. It's a very nice city with hundreds of nice places.

I have looked into Holland and it seems quite expensive unless you live in more 'rural' or run-down areas... Then again, I can't really say an area is 'rural' or run-down without visiting... It just seems that's how it is...

I would fucking kill to live in Amsterdam though! haha

I lived in Amsterdam and visit a few times per year. Definitely gonna be difficult to find an available place thats reasonably cheap there.

But man oh man... if you can make it work, you will have a hell of a time! Just make sure you're down with popping E and listening to Techno from time to time.

Tax-wise...
#1 You guys are FUCKING INSANE

#2 don't listen to WF advice. consult e-business specialized fiscalists with EXTREME, verifiable records of international referrals.

#3 Ultimately, as a US state citizen it will come down to:

#3a live in the US / business offshore -> panic every night hoping you won't wake up with newspapers declaring a bilateral US<=>OffshoreLoc tax inquisition. Or an employee at your offshore agent/bank/business walking out the office with an USB stick, ready to collect bounty ($MMM+) from any government in the world and retire for the next three generations <-- today, this is probably ISSUE #1. no matter how trustworthy your private banker/accountant/entire structure..... all it takes is ONE, so-called ,disgruntled' mother fucker from a room next door and the whole thing goes down.

#3b the most SOLID tax evasion scheme is to acquire citizenship of a nation with low/no tax. no more 'schemes', no more 'structures' or 'setups'... simply, you stop suffering high taxes not because you paid off a dude in the Channel Islands, but simply because more is not required from your resident citizenship! offshore setups in monaco pay 0% but need to stay focused 24/7 as to law adjustments and TIEAs. a monegasque citizen pays 0% but what newspaper scares him? he lives there!

#3c problem with 3b... you're a US state citizen. US IRS collects cash from citizens for a period of 10 years after they renounce US citizenship.

#4 as a US state citizen.... sorry mate but YOU'RE FUCKED. [note; more and more offshore service providers point-blank refuse service to US state citizens today. a law in the US quickly becomes a law anywhere in the western world if the US wants it so. even nations can't stop US IRS influence, how can a fiscal agency? so, they've begun to simply deny US patrons]

#5 Amsterdam as a business/tax-safe location? You've got to be fucking kidding me. US 30% TTB's (Total Tax Burden) are a lot? prepare for 54-71% in NL.

Above^^^ very wise words indeed.

thanks for starting this thread LMSinc. America sucks greed runs this country and It's time to get the fuck out and look for countries to live in that won't fuck you over.

Australia get my vote as the best place to live. Only %1 of your income is taken out to pay for health insurance and it is taken out the same time of the year as your taxes. Beautiful country as well. Nice seasons and hot chicks all over the place. Everyone already speaks English so you don't have to worry about learning a new language. After paying taxes for 3 years you become a citizen and get all the benefits that an Aussie gets.

But like the above post says your best bet is to travel around and see what country best suits your needs. This part of the process might turn out the be the most fun anyway. lol

good luck and let us know how all this pans out for you.

I don't think it's much more expensive than the other countries and in Amsterdam the number people that speak english is very high.

I've looked into Switzerland, and as much as I love a lot about the country, I can't feasibly afford it right now... I have to be honest with myself. lol

dude, spare yourself and don't go to switzerland. language is too difficult to learn and if they notice a slight foreign-ish sound in your language, you'r fucked.

spain or portugal. both have excellent relations with the US and im sure you could get some kind of deal. talk to the embassies. since you live in the US i take that you do at least already know a few words of spanish lmao.
