Latest Photos of Sandy

Fortunately I didn't get hit and didn't really lose power. It felt like a normal rain day with a lot of wind. My dad says they got hit though and has no power and trees everywhere.

I wanted to really experience this, with flooding and all. Yeah, I'm weird.

lmfao, this is hilarious. dude is boss.

Yep, you're definitely weird.

I would have loved to have seen 45fters in person. That has to be nuts.

The surfers had a field day Thursday afternoon before the chop got really rough. I should of went out there for photos, but it got dark too soon during the workday. There may be some photos on the Palm Beach Post or Sun Sentinel.

BTW, here's a photo of Hurricane Sandy NOT hitting Florida.

I know this is a photo thread - anything on the following issues?

1. Outside of NY we hear that people live under the City. Are there hundreds of deaths of people down below that are too unstable to heed warnings of Sandy?
2. Were there hoardes of rats from subways etc escaping into the nearby neighborhoods?

Or is this all hearsay from generations of too much Hollywood?

this is some crazy shit. i live in the 30s and above most other buildings so out my window I can see all the way down and across to jersey. Usually it's like i'm in space with a bunch of stars all around me. now all I see is 15ish buildings with lights on and darkness and parts of jersey across the river with lights on.

I lived in prime flood area below wall street up until recently, word is down there the subway stations and tunnels are flooded to the ceilings. There was so much water that it was flowing out of manhattan towards brooklyn last night which is crazy and they have pumps in the tunnels moving 250,000 gallons a minute.

I thought later at night there was a lightning storm going on but it was all the power stuff blowing up here and in jersey.

As much as it fucked shit up, I still think it could have been a ton worse than it ended up being. People I work with were getting weather in the early afternoon that didn't start here until like 7 and there was never a crazy downpour of rain from what I saw.

People want to shit on people in the northeast being worried about a category 1 hurricane but the city just isn't prepared for something like this. There were some statistics released a while ago that said at any one time there is only enough food in manhattan to feed everyone for 4-5 days if shit goes south, possibly less. The subways are completely flooded with water, sewage, and garbage. Entire streets in areas are flooded with sewage runoff. People are stuck in apartment buildings 40 floors up with no electricity or water.

There's only so much you can do here to prep for this sort of thing when there are 2000000 trying to prep with the same shit as you in a such a small area when you get word of something coming.

I just feel blessed to be living on the edge of the blackout and still have my power and the ability to scavenge for food and drinks and to be able to flush my damn toilet without having to fill it from the bathtub water reserve.

^ i wonder what it looks like in Jersey City downtown by the Newport mall area where I used to have an apartment..... I heard Hoboken was destroyed

This.

But you see I figured the idiots that say New Yorkers are pussies every time there is a natural disaster have simply never lived in Manhattan, so they have no idea what the fuck they're talking about. The island is over-crowded and surrounded by water from all 4 corners. NYC is just not ready for any type of natural disaster.

The Christian view of God isn't messed up if you read the Bible and try to put a little understanding in what happens.

I try not to get my view points about "God" from works of fiction! Much like I wouldnt base my view point about "whales" from reading Moby Dick!

The old testament is incredibly bloody and contradictory.

It's also the foundation for Judaism and Islam.

Go figure.

I used to live here, my aunt owns it now, said she lost the dock and her back deck but the house is totally dry and fine:

Was so badass, press a button on the boat lift to lower the boat into the water, reverse and you're in the bay.
