Kiva & Microlending

How come you have so many repaid, and Youngbutt does not?

I think his are fresher loans, I haven't made any new loans lately since I've been playing around with Lending Club

This is dumb, if you want to lend money. Hook up with a real estate attorney in your area. They always have clients looking for money. You can lend at 12-18% and have something secured by property in the United States.

That is cool but this is called microfinance for a reason

I can't even believe there are naysayers to such a ridiculously awesome program. You guys bitch about people on welfare and then you bitch about people who work their fingers to the bone to pay back an 875 dollar loan. Pick a side and STFU already.

I think the issue is that Kiva puts a picture up and a backstory and an "amount paid back" when it's all fiction. Of course that's marketing and we all know the conversion rate wouldn't be as good if there weren't faces attached to it. The concept of helping entrepreneurs through microloans is cool though. As long as people realize they aren't helping that particular person, but rather financing a concept, then it's all good.

Agreed.
