kidney stones ... fuckin kidney stones.

Doesn't anyone here drink water? I think a decent diet and plenty of water should do the trick in not getting these lil fuckers.

Damnit I had to stop reading this thread after that picture of the stone and dime, time to buy a lifetime supply of lemon juice and cranberry juice fuckkkkkk

Yup. I drink 150 oz. a day.

A decent diet and plenty of water prevent a lot of the physical crap that folks put themselves through. Veggies, fruit, and water... it keeps the pipes flushed (literally) and makes you feel great.

I have a buddy who hates water. He loves Coke and DP, though. Small wonder he always feels like crap.

for those who don't drink water but want too, good way to ease into is by buying some kind of Gatorade/fruit mix... and slowly start using less n less until you just have water left. Write that down.

Actually it isnt all about the water. For people whose stones are calcium then it is the majority of the time caused by a Lack of Calcium in the Diet not to Much. But others are Uric Stones which I guess could be prevented by more water intake to get close to that happy P/H level.

My first stone I had ( have had them twice ) I drank water 9 out of 10 beverages a day, not counting the 2 pints of milk I drank daily. They asked if I drank Cola's ( Dark Soda's, not sprite,7up,sierra mist, mountain dew etc)

My second stone I had, I had eliminated milk from my diet and drank alot of gatorades, water and Mtn Dew. They told me to eliminate my gatorade consumption to a couple a week, Increase the drinking of Lemonades and Citrus Drinks like Mountain Dew ( which I live by now ) and to limit the number of times I eat Red Meat, which I usually ate it 1-2 times a week which they said was fine and told me not to eat Red meat three times a week or more.

So water may play a role for the Uric Acid by lowering the Acidic Levels , thats only 5-10% of stones where as 90% of kidney stones are due to a lack of Calcium in the Diet.

i switched up my whole diet after my hospital stay. low sodium diet with close to 0 foods containing oxalates. i drink over 2 gallons of water a day on average, and i also take 2 cranberry extract capsules every morning. so far nothing has helped, which is why i'm glad the doctor thinks it might be a thyroid disorder that he says can be regulated with medicine if needed.

Nice article.

Natural Health from A to Z - Mason County News - Mason, Texas

Kidney stones and calcification in the kidneys are problems partially caused by excess calcium in the urine. This excess calcium can be from a magnesium deficiency, a potassium deficiency, inadequate water consumption, high sodium intake, high calcium intake from unbalanced sources such as antacids, high oxalate intake from foods such as chocolate, coffee, spinach and beans, and high intake of acid-forming foods such as sugar, coffee, sodas and animal protein.

Last year, I got what basically amounts to a kidney stone (a chunk of calcium), inside my salivary glands. It was the most painful thing that has ever happened to me.

I came very close to having to have it surgically removed, but for about a week all I drank was lemonade and iced tea (acidic stuff can help drag it out) and after about 10 days it came out with a little bit of help from me. I've never had anything so painful as pushing a chunk of calcium out of my salivary gland.

Though I'm sure it's nothing compared to actual kidney stones, I thought it was pretty cool that the same thing can happen in your mouth.
