IMO what these guys are doing is the ONLY way to do it.
You see if they didn't sell the script somone else would clone it and sell it. So from that perspective they kind of had no choice. Make money off of selling the script or let someone else do it.

I made my own in a couple of hours using html. No scripts or anything. I reckon that if he's selling the script so that other people can try and replicate what he did then he's encouraging clones, so I don't feel guilty.

Thanks Jon, I was already thinking about dropping the pricing. Afraid I don't know anything about PHP, so that might prove difficult for me, but I'll have a look into it. Thanks for taking the time to offer advice, I appreciate it.
An important correction

Brad has a small but very significant error in his post. we (bidthegrid.com) are officially as of June 20th, this means 2 weeks! And not from march.
