Hi, recently i've been looking into affiliate marketing- what's the best way to make a start? How's it's set out?

Here's how's it's set out: you have to represent some big brands at one point.
 
A good place to start is signing up to some affiliate programs and actually doing some work...

I would recommend starting with the easy stuff like clickbank and amazon and maybe some CJ affiliate programs, then, once you gain some experience and make some money, you can move in on some CPA.

Is it because there is no money to be made in CPA and you are trying to save me some wasted time?

Money comes down to:

niche research > wordpress > content > on page seo > off page seo > traffic = $$$$$

I think it's best if you start with the easy stuff, like CJ affiliate programs, amazon, and the bank of clicks ( clickbank ) Hopefully this unique advice helps you in your quest.

EWA is currently accepting only seven (7) new affiliates.

UPDATE: EWA is not accepting any new affiliates at all. Don't even bother applying.
 
Yeah, like Darkdrift said, take it slowly when you start.

Start with the simple things. Clickbank is a very good place to start.
 
I'd recommend reading, reading, and reading. Learn from other people's mistakes. Search for various "how to" questions, read people's answers (preferably knowledgeable people in the field), and read some more. :)
 
Create a blog
Write some good articles with basic SEO
Get some backlinks from the BST
Apply for aff network
Write blog posts that incorporate products
make money$$$$$$$..

As simple as I can put it....

The rest you have to play and figure out..
