I haven't posted in a while on any forum, so pay attention.
First of all, I want to apologize publicly with Ben for using non-compliant landers and thus getting banned from their platform for life. That was 8 months ago. I could have sent him an email, but making it public has more weight.
Ok, so everyone saying POF is DEAD, don't run there, etc.. are f*ckin lying. OP, POF is a most guarded goldmine for affiliates in the Dating niche. They just don't want competition.
I started a year ago my IM career as broke as it could get and started with the Dating niche on POF as suggested on some forums. Well, I was new to this niche and had just like $1k to get something working... So I paid attention to the ads and lander being displayed and come up with an old angle and a smooth sales funnel and luckily.. my first camp was a winner, after spending less than $500 for collecting data. I need to understand the bidding system of the platform and there were so many targeting options that could easily intimidate you.
To make this short, I was making $100/day net profits with 70-100% ROI the second week... by the third week I was doing $200/day, and that was just one Camp, one angle, 2 offers, one country, males, and I was not even segmenting the age group.
So you could easily scale to other countries and make a bit more.
Some points to take into account:
1. Get your tracking in place before doing anything or you will fail from start. Use the POF dynamic tokens and conversion pixel along with your tracking system. Mr. Green POF AD uploader will make your life easier also, when uploading a lot of ads.
2. If you are new to the Dating niche, read Mr. Green and Finch posts about the basics, if u don't know the basics u wont get far. No matter the offer or traffic source, if u don't come up with an angle.. a story to sell the product. Know your audience... who are u gonna target? put yourself in the mind of that lonely man looking for a decent woman to date before this Valentine's.. or that other young man that only want to hang out with an older women (*wink).
3. FOCUS!, dont jump from angle to angle, or offer to offer or dont keep changing your targeting options every 5 mins!, trust me I used to do that. You wont get consistent data to rely on if u do that. let the camp untouched run for a few days, at least $50/day, so you get consistent data for further optimization.
4. Your sales funnel/angle must be smooth (Ad-LP-Offer), if you are ripping someone else ads and landers, you wont have the entire picture of what they are doing, since u don't know their targeting options or bidding method. Your own ideas will get your a higher ROI and could last for ages, and can be scaled to other countries and platforms. Don't write and Ad for Oranges and then talk about chicken on your lander.. and then sending the user to a Lemon Juice offer, u get the point!
5. Sign up with the CPA Network that specialize in the Dating niche since these get the newest and some exclusive offers, so they will convert more. Ask your AM about which offer are doing good for Social Traffic. It is better if your landing page looks similar to the offer's lander.
6. Play with your bids, go low or go high, don't bid on the middle... this applies for any CPM platform. As for POF, you gotta know that the more targeting options, the higher u will have to bid, you will get higher conversion rates but less volume, so you can segment the camps to get more volume. For instance, one camp targeting Smokers, another one targeting drinkers, etc. Don't forget your age groups and also. This way u will have a lot more camps for more volume.
You can also try going broader, but just after u have something working, since your budget will go fast going broader. But when you have a winning angle that appeal to a broad audience, oh boy go broad!.
7. Don't try more than one or two camps/angles at a time, stick to one till u make it work, if u feel u spent a decent amount and didn't make it work, then u can try another angle... but bear in mind that maybe is not the angle, if you are not tracking properly and optimizing, that would affect the success of the camp. Your bidding and targeting options are also a factor that could make or break your camp, this apply to any traffic sources, the more you have played with it, the more you will know how the platform works, use this knowledge to your advantage.
8. After you have some camps working and cannot handle more camps manually, u need to work smartly! invest some money on some tools like POFpro so it will handle and optimize your camps on autopilot, while u come up with some more new ones. You gotta make smarts moves in this industry or you will get crushed at some point. Don't be afraid to try new ideas and methods. Outsource some part of the process if you need it.
9. Since traffic on POF is of high quality because these users are looking for dates and also a good percentage of them are paid members on some sites, your quality with the merchant will be good and you can ask for those nice pay bumps on the offer!. (assuming you are not using words like FREE on your ads or landers). When you feel ready you can go direct with the merchant if you want, this is a bit riskier, but worthy.
Ok, I'm tired and sleepy, I dunno if I laid out this small guide the correct way or if I missed some points, sure there are more aspects to consider in between the above points. If you need some more tips on some aspect (that I might not share publicly) feel free to msg me OP.
And if anyone else tells you again that POF is dead, I could prove them wrong if Ben allow me to run ads there again. I would run some old camp or a new one for just 2 weeks and post the results here with at least 50-100 positive ROI after a week of testing. Some things might have changed, but when u have and strategy and well defined method for the entire process (a system) u can get things working in not time.
