In the last few weeks I've had a lot of interest towards developing iPhone apps in hopes of getting one as a "hit".

At this point I'm already discussing the project with mobile app developers and I hope to get things moving asap. That being said, I would like to know if anyone else on WickedFire has had any sort of success with creating their own iPhone apps.

From what I've seen, if you get your app in the top 10 paid list you're basically looking at racking in 6 to 7 figures from it. That alone motivates me enough to try to make it happen. I've come up with several utility apps and gaming ideas that I believe have a chance to make it happen. I also have the resources to fund their development. What I don't have is the experience or better yet, someone to talk to every now and then regarding apps and how we can dominate this industry.

So getting to the point, if you are getting into app creation, or are in it already, hit me up if you are interested. I'm just looking to get a group of guys together that have a common interest, and where we can help each other attain that top 10 list. What I won't do and will not request is for anyone to share their app ideas since I won't fucking hand mine over.

TL;DR: i want create iphone apps to increasing ballin, need bros to bounce ideas, make us all rich, ok

I just added you on skype - mportercmg

I actually just decided to jump into the app game two days ago. Trying to find a solid local dev. team down here in Irvine.

I'm down to network/mastermind and I have some rescources you might be interested in as well hit me up.

How much do those $2 games usually cost to develop?

I have thought about developing this but been working on so much other stuff, will probably have to get back to this in a few months.

is there a blackhat way to get into that top 10 list?
(for example if it's based on votes, you could generate them yourself eventually)

Tried to hit you up on AIM last night. I'm just getting into the game as well.

We'll be in touch.

IMO apps that don't have a ton of value to the user are going to die out fast now that there are just so many of them and the novelty has long worn off of iphones etc. I think the market still has a ton of potential for the right app that actually does a task that makes the phone infinently more useable. I wouldnt be stepping into the app arena as a dev, I still think that facebook apps are much more scalable

Not true. I've been watching the app store like a hawk and many simple & useless apps are still going hard just because of their entrainment value. You don't need the best app, or a unique app to make it work; I'm seeing apps doing the same thing as others, not any better, and their rating count is 10k+.

P.S. Fuck Facebook.

iPhone is locked down tighter than a nuns cunt. Anything that makes the phone more useful, isn't going to be able to integrate with the phone fully within the confines of it's jail, and therefore won't ever make it's way onto the app store.

You're forgetting that most of those apps have heavy promotion also. Most of the guys are cross promoting from their existing array of shitty apps, or buying up installs. Think of it like Zynga, they release a game on fb, and instantly have a million users for free, just by cross promoting.

I completely understand what you're saying, but I've been monitoring apps by big companies like the ones you just described, and apps by small companies that only have 1-3 apps released in their inventory.

As well, I have the pockets to heavily promote my app, and as I keep releasing more and more and start cross-promoting like the others do; I can have my own mini empire.

I say you need to do a case study - I would be interested to see how this pan's out.

I may create a thread when I launch my first app and basically track the progress of the app when it comes to installs. But I don't know yet, going to have to consult with a few others first to see if it's a bad idea.

No need to tell us what the niche/app is. But either way, good luck bro.

What sort of apps are you looking to develop? I would scan the top lists to see if there is some unserved niche of any kind... The game app market i've heard is a bitch to break into :/

I know Clickbooth is coming out with iPhone and Android apps not only for their employees but for thei Publishers and Advertisers. Talk about optimization?!

I've had a few "successful" apps, one of which raked in nearly 100k, but I can't help you since you seem to ignore PMs when others ask for advice.
