Companies should be able to stand out on their own merit. Impress me with your knowledge and business, not with how many drinks you buy me.

BB Wolfe,

Are you going to Aff Summit or do you just like to complain?

Way to take a nice thought and cheapen it. I told the people from our network going to Aff Summit to see if they wanted to organize an impromptu meetup for WF people, after people on the Aff Summit thread said they wanted to meet up and say hi.

No one is trying to impress or woo anyone. This isn't our aff network's event. This is just the chance for you to meet other WF people who want to show up since it didn't seem to be coordinated. So try not to read anything into it.

As for wining and dining people, you obviously haven't been to some of our previous official parties or out with me. Let's just say while I can't guarantee you had a good time, I can guarantee you had a massive hangover.

Quit being such a pussy. And as for the hangover, just remember you'll never have one so long as you keep drinking...

I'm really not trying to be an elitist asshole here, but I've been to literally dozens of trade shows as an exhibitor, and a few dozen more as an attendee, I know what companies do and I know what they don't do. If you want to go to an event, get your free cheap drink, then sit for 2 hours while some pant-stain goes over how his product will revolutionize your world for the low low price of $5K, then by all means, go have the fucking drink.

By the replies, it seems some of you younger dudes need to learn how to qualify salesmen a bit. Anyone want a free scooter?

I'll assume by saying that you mean me. So I'll reply with I'm not qualifying him by a few free drinks. I'm qualifying him because I've talked to him on the phone many times, online several more, and I'm running traffic through him. And he knows his shit. Better than most by a long shot.

If you're Crashem, then yes, it was directed at you.

And further, Crashem, I'm guessing that at some point we will meet. I'm going to hold you to the hangover, but I don't think you're up for it. I put Irish Dockworkers to shame.

Haahaa. Now you are making me nervous. I'm getting old here. But definitely hold me to the promise and I'll try and keep up. Not to be the old guy talking about the past. But I would have held my own much better when our company used to go out as a group pretty much every weekend and drink from 7-2am. When we do go out, just make sure I get to my room and not laid out in the street somewhere.

im in if the opportunity is there... i guess the whole idea is being drunk the whole time so im not exactly gonna have an itinerary

Motive will be at AS-Boston and we would love to swing by and talk to some of you guys and girls. We would love to take a few swigs with you and I have a feeling that who ever wants to come by will be taken care of alcohol wise. Even the guy in the green hat can come too.........

Just want to throw this in:

I agree with BB Wolf on his stand that companies should pay for more than the first round. Obviously, we can afford our own drinks but if the company is trying to convince you to come drink with their people during your free time, then they should put out as much as possible.

It's not like I think there should be a rule where they must buy x amount of drinks etc, but if I were the network then I would want to offer several rounds because that will lead to more people coming, and it will also result in happier people. This equals a better chance of signing people up as affiliates.

First round only? Wow... Evidently this is your first anything-conference.

even more shocking because of the fact that happy hour drink specials are illegal in Boston. so bring your wallet...because the next few rounds are going to cost you.

joking by the way...boston's drinking laws are lame though

I think this is a great gesture! Maybe I’m a little old school, maybe it’s my heritage and upbringing, or maybe I just love my booze! Someone inviting you to share a drink should be an honor. I understand this is an attempt to pitch business but isn’t that the entire purpose of Affiliate Summit? Anyway, I would love to meet up and have a drink - you can put Motive down for at least one round.
