Investing in online dating affiliate industry

Use that $100k to buy a strip club in a popular tourist place.

Or in a small town, that's cool too.

This is a great forum I appreciate all of the replies.

Online Gambling is a great business, but it is in the darkest days right now. Nobody has any idea when it will be made legal and what that will do. Common sense tells me that within a year or so any players I have on revenue share will be willingly playing at Harrahs or MGMgrand online. Wouldnt you be? If you are going after a straight CPA - it is a pretty good business still - but it is not the business that is was 3 years ago. Because it is considered illegal, it is tougher to do mainstream advertising.

Online dating is appealing to me because it is legal and easier to market. My idea is to slowly move money from gambling to dating (or a similar alternative). A few of you mentioned altenatives to this. I assume you mean webcams or adult.

As for private labels - I do not want to spend big money on brand building. I would rather spend the money on direct aquisitions just to get the money rolling in as an affiliate of a known brand.

1 - sign up as affil of online dating company
2 - create some ads
3 - buy advertising, set budget 1000.00 per day
4 - pray to sign up gods
5 - analyze results
6 - rinse and repeat

Buying a bunch of shitty affiliate sites, even those with some revenue is probably just going to be a waste of money. You'll probably end up buying sites that aren't worth a fraction of what you paid and won't make back your initial investment unless you put in a shitload of work on them. Nobody will sell their money sites and traffic sources unless you offer them a ton more than they're worth.

If you really have 6 figures to drop, I'd recommend you buy a premium domain and develop it. Then hire some peeps with experience in the industry to help you get it rolling.

well if you can arrange whores who can work on webcams, im ready to do partnership with you, i'll simply backup my site which i had to close due to the lack of bitches.
if you arrange girls i can put the site up again and we can start live cam site within 24 hours!

This is actually not true. Yes, since the UIGEA Act passed by Congress in 06 a lot of sites closed their doors, many marketers went under. However, with this comes opportunity, and the strong hung in there (our group included) and found that because of the lack of marketers, CPA rates soared, competition was nil, the only change of strategy was to begin promoting in legal territories (e.g. UK, Europe, etc) and things were back to normal.

My only advice to you if you want to get back into gaming is to avoid the revshare model if you're US based as you can be tied into aiding and abetting with the casino. However, if you acquire players on a flat rate CPA basis, you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry to hear you're leaving the gambling sector, I'd still include it and lay low.. things will be turning around in the next few years. Keep all your websites, domains, on the backburner. When you consider we watched from 1996 - 2004 every Senator and committee try and BAN online gambling, and then it happened in 06 (sorta), and now the tides are reversed, and the Senators are trying to legalize it, it's just a matter of time.

Dating is a great niche to begin exploring, you'll find your gaming data does great with it... enjoy.

Hi everyone-

I would appreciate as much information as possible.

I spent the past ten years in online gambling and would like to move over to the online dating scene. Nothing good comes free and I am well aware of the saturation.

I have $100,000 I could devote towards marketing. This would be spread out over three months. My plans were to work with Fling.

Could we start a discussion on where you would put this money and how you would go about starting in this business?

Thank you!

This is a GREAT idea! When innovation becomes stifled we go RETRO...so yeah, dating websites, because people like dating and it is a totally untapped niche. We all thought dating was so 2001...but nah, 2009 is all about online dating. Make an Iphone App to go with the dating site and BAM - originality that conveniently fits into a heart-shaped box.
