In a nutshell & in laymen terms, can anybody explain what these services actually do?

They take an article you wrote and syndicate it to other article sites for use by othr webmaster/writers/bloggers. Then with the links you embed you hope to get some backlinks out of it.
 
With the social book marking service - do we get a report when it's finished? If so could you please PM me the details as well as a link to a mock report (or a real report). I might be interested in a few packages.

I'm not kamesh, but in the report he sent me it included various very reputable social bookmarking sites. There weren't just one or two. I had him do six different urls and each url had a really good mix of sites (they weren't just repeats of the other ones). It is very natural linking, and very nicely posted on the sites.
