wow, thats different. Its extra publicity for google, and I dont think theyll be concerned about any extra server load they might incur :p

People have been doing it informally on forums for a long time, someone just decided to put it all together on one site and organized a contest

Looks like it's well done

I also don't think creating a logo that looks just like Google's was the best move. Other than that it seems like a pretty interesting site.

Yea the name/logo had me wondering if google would get involved at all... or even care about it.

I don't think Google will mind, extra cash and publicity (as if they need it) for them.

This is a neat idea. Anyone here going to participate?

Well, that sites just seems kind of pointless.

Pointless in what way ?! It's strange and interesting and it attracts attention and it has a PR7 and I doubt it's pointless for the owner. I actually used it a few times :o

It just seems like visitors would grow bored very quickly and it doesn't seem like it has any stickiness.

You're true about both things, BUT - it's interesting to see for the first time, gets talked about (like here), thus introducing itself to new visitors and managed to get a whooping 40 000+ links and a PR7 that give visitors and a ranking boost to the other sites in their network, linked at the bottom.

Do people actually participate in these internet scavenger hunts?
I see sticky threads about scav hunts on some forums but they seem to remain unused
