Yeah, my son in grade 8 has been having difficulties starting to learn calculus in his advanced math class. But he has to work hard. Why would you want to do that when you can coast.

Because it helps you learn problem solving and logical thinking?

Then again so does programming and it's way more fun. Sometimes you have to use calculus depending on what you're developing though!

If you want to go into engineering or Computer science then you need calculus. If you want to be good with like the number side of business then you need calculus. If you want to get into finance and banking you need calculus. Insert X there and you probably need calculus. That said you have to first try to understand the concepts of calculus and that will make it a whole lot easier!

I was having major problems with Calculus as well and I hired a tutor. After having a tutor show me the basics I went from getting C's and D's to A's, and ended up one year winning math student of the year in my high school. Get a tutor and pay attention, it will work wonders.
